CONCLUSIONS
Some conclusions to be drawn from the SWOT analysis are the following:
1) The university will continue to grow—so long as it maintains an active commitment to growth.
2) Growth will be mainly off-campus and online.
3) The implications are that fissures or perceptual differences could develop—
a. Between employees assigned to different locations;
b. In the Victoria community and wider regional community with regard to ownership and support of the university.
4) The university must therefore make conscious and continuing efforts to ensure that employees see themselves as equal participants in and contributors to one university and that the community sees the off-campus and online growth as something that serves their interests, rather than being a threat to these interests.
5) The implications are also that resource priorities must flow from the commitment to growth—meaning that new faculty and staff positions in response to increasing enrollment demand will be among the highest of institutional priorities.
6) Given competition for resources, the university must also, therefore, continue to reassure faculty and staff that growth generates, as well as absorbs, resources and that growth offers the best chance for the university to reward the employees who have made growth possible, while at the same time adding new employees to share the expanding workload, as possible.
