Daily Workshops: Students participate in daily warm-up and specialty

workshops (ear-training, sight-reading hand

drumming, conducting) focusing on enhancing

musicianship, ensemble and performance skills.

Masterclasses/Open Rehearsals: Ensembles ‘perform’ chamber works in progress for

one another and learn about constructive feedback.

Visiting Ensemble: Visiting artists join us to provide a fresh perspective

on performing music from the past as well as

contemporary repertoire. Past visitors: Elixir Baroque

Ensemble - violins, viola da gamba and harpsichord

demonstrating Baroque performance practices - and

Dévah Quartet - electric strings playing classical to

popular repertoire with new twists.

Orchestra & Piano Repertoire: Faculty and students collaborate in a ‘conductorless’

orchestra to explore a variety of chamber-style

repertoire. In addition, the full ensemble creates and

performs an original composition - the outcome of

daily composition workshops where students learn

to mold musical ideas into workable forms. In

addition to playing with strings, pianists also learn

and perform interesting four-hand to six-hand piano

repertoire ranging from classical to jazz.
