John King – Managing Director

John worked in the building trade for many years before taking a late career

break to study. It was while he was an architecture student at London’s

Metropolitan University that he became fascinated by year-round outdoor

living, which at the time was largely enjoyed overseas. Part of John’s

philosophy is to try to introduce people to new and exciting products you don’t

find at your typical garden centres He set up Kingspace 3 years ago and even in

that relatively short space of time the company has grown hugely. Part of its

success is due to John’s passion for being the first to offer innovative, luxury

outdoor products from abroad.

Ian Poate – Business Manager

Ian joined Kingspace in 2011 to develop the business and also act as our design

consultant. Ian worked for many years in customer service and later moved

onto the building trade in the luxury home improvement market. Ian has a

flare of truly understanding customers’ needs and designing bespoke outdoor

living spaces.

Felipe Klepacz – Architectural Technologist

Felipe is a fully trained architect who has worked on residential projects

ranging to large scale site projects of up to 500 houses to individual properties.

Felipe’s job at Kingspace is to utilise his skills to help our customers visualise

Kingspace products on their own properties.

The Kingspace Barbecue Lodge

The Kingspace Barbecue Lodge originates in Lapland and is called a "Grillikota" in Finnish. Originally designed by reindeer herdsman as a shelter with a kitchen, Kingspace is proud to bring the Barbecue Lodge to the UK for all year round entertaining.

All our Kingspace Barbecue Lodges are constructed from 45mm (nearly 2") thick double tongue and groove logs. The wood is milled from responsibly sourced, slow grown Scandinavian Spruce.

The Lodge is supplied with the complete barbecue/grill system, cooking grills, hood, flue, chimney cowl and table to go around the grill. Double glazed windows (all three windows open) and lockable door feature in the Lodge as standard. The roof comes with a choice of three shingle colours: Coral Black, Forest Green and Tile Red.

The base of your Kingspace Barbecue Lodge is constructed from treated timber, whilst the outer walls are untreated ready for your own personal touch! Wood is a natural product and if correctly preserved your cabin will last a lifetime.

The lodge is equipped with benches which can be turned to fit together to give you 2 double beds, each long enough so adults can stretch out. This makes the Kingspace Barbecue Lodge perfect for use both during the day for entertaining and at night for guest accommodation or sleepovers.

The barbecue/grill is designed to burn wood or charcoal and can be used as a fire bowl to create a cosy, snug atmosphere to bring everyone together or to cook for your friends in a brand new way.

Having a barbecue whatever the weather, at any time of the year, is wonderful. Book that barbecue party weeks in advance and tell your guests they definitely won't need a coat!

The Kingspace Barbecue Lodge is complete with a manufacturer’s warranty for 10 years on

the timber and structure and 2 years on all doors, windows and grills.

Kingspace Garden Studios with Reclaimed Cedar Cladding

The Kingspace Garden Studios have been finished with locally sourced, reclaimed Western Red Cedar cladding and are styled for customers who prefer modern clean lines and contemporary looks. The cedar has been reclaimed from Green Island in Poole Harbour from a beautiful cedar lodge, which was sadly destroyed by fire early in 2012.

Western Red Cedar is one of the most desired external timber claddings due to its rich colours, highly resistant to decay, is durable and contains natural preservatives. It is one of nature’s more versatile, adaptable and attractive species of timber for external timber cladding. The rich warm brown, red and pink colours and texture of the Cedar gives any building a touch of individuality that will blend into any environment. Western Red Cedar can be relied upon to give long and trouble free service under all conditions and is increasingly being specified for a more modern, contemporary appearance.

Once we have completed the installation of your new Kingspace Garden Studio all you will need to do is decide on how best to utilise your extra living space! We are sure you will have no doubt already made your mind up long before completion but if you haven't then here are some suggestions:

Timber Decking & Traditional Timber Walls & Floor

Kingspace can include a timber deck to the outside of your structure. The timber decking can be added to the front or the front and sides of your building. Our highly skilled joiners can produce any design in, softwood, hardwood or composite. Kingspace garden studios are manufactured using traditional timber walls and floor. The walls and floor are constructed using heavy duty solid structural graded timber frames that carry the load of the building. The walls and floor are manufactured using C16 (British Standard) graded structural timber. The 150mm (6 inch) floor timbers are pressure treated and impregnated with Tanelith E wood preservative. Tanelith E pressure treated timber protects against fungal (rot) and insect attack to ensure a long life service. The high grade structural timbers are obtained from well managed, sustainable forests. The quality doesn't stop at the outside, the interior of these cedar buildings have been carefully designed with your needs in mind. Telephone and network cables have been incorporated into the construction, double electric sockets are fitted to every wall and ceiling lights can be positioned to suit your own specific requirements. A neutrally painted interior provides a clean and light space, finished with a choice of wood flooring.

Wall & Floor Insulation The timber walls are wrapped in a waterproof breathing membrane. This breathing membrane acts like a one way valve and allows natural moisture to escape out of the building - but prevents moisture from entering the building. To exceed the recommended U-values for building regulations and to provide a truly habitable outdoor garden room all timber walls and floors are insulated using 80mm thick Kingspan (cellotex) rigid thermal insulation panels. Kingspan is the market leader and its products are the most thermally efficient and technically advanced insulation products available today. Although Kingspan rigid thermal insulation is the most expensive form of insulation on the market it has many advantages and increased insulation values when compared to alternative forms of insulation such as mineral or animal fibre. A 80mm thick insulation panel is equivalent to approximately 250mm of mineral or animal fibre. In addition, by using the Kingspan solid insulation panels your building will not suffer from attacks by mould, fungi, mildew or vermin.

Plastering & Painting Inside all our garden rooms you will find traditional plaster boarded walls with a matte finish A professionally plastered wall gives a warm, elegant surface finish and will also help with sound insulation. It will also act as an additional heat insulation and will contribute to improved energy efficiency.

Internal Flooring The internal timber floor structure is completely covered in an industrial grade moisture resistant tongue and grooved timber floor boarding. The thick timber flooring creates a solid foundation for any additional floor coverings. As standard your garden room will be fitted with a walnut effect laminate wooden floor, other floor coverings are available by request.

Electrics, Lighting & Heating All Kingspace garden studios can be designed to include a comprehensive electrical package comprising power sockets, lighting and heating if required. We will also install a consumer unit to control the power coming into your garden room. All that your electrician needs to do is run power from your house, typically with an armoured cable, and connect to the consumer unit. We can also create a network for your telephone and internet systems.

Over the years we have carefully developed our Gazebo selection so that we now offer the most comprehensive range of styles, sizes and shapes on the market. Combined with our bespoke service we are confident we have the right style and size of shelter for any customer requirement.

Whilst the range of choices are numerous, this brochure will guide you through all the options available and

make selecting the correct Gazebo simple. Just follow the three simple steps on the page opposite. All of our Gazebos can be installed by our expert team; However, we can also supply most of our Gazebos as kits if you would like to install it yourself.

Not-withstanding our fantastic range of standard Gazebos, some customers find that their own requirements mean that nothing pre-manufactured will suit the job. For these cases we offer a bespoke design and build service and would be happy to talk to customers about individual projects.

Our Gazebos have developed over the years, so in addition to the traditional thatch roof we now offer Cedar Shingle roofs as an alternative. All of our Gazebos are manufactured from FSC approved timber and are made to the highest standards here in our workshops in Kent.

These are the real thing, each with its own unique character, with no two ever being the same. Having been used for countless meals, the inside has developed a lasting oiled patina with the outside showing signs of years of use from an open fire. Up to 100 years of age, each Kadai has it's own unique, individual character, after being used by families at weddings and ceremonies placed directly above the fire to hear food for the guests. Cooking with ghee, the process has kindly oiled the bowl's plates, providing longevity to restart their life as our barbeque and firebowl. The Originals are heavy gauged metal. Each Kadai price includes the filter system, tongs and wire brush. Options include a choice of stand: Tripod Stand - at 9" in height, provides an ideal height for using the bowl, as a fire pit or for barbequing whilst sitting. Gothic Stand - at 18" in height, provides a more decorative stand to create a feature of the bowl and is a good height for cooking with friends whilst standing, or for an impressive elevated fire. To gauge the size of the Kadai you require, work out how many people your Kadai will need to feed and eat. For 6 to 8 people, a 70cm Kadai is ideal. 8 to 10 people would be better served by an 80cm Kadai, 10 to 12 people by a 90cm Kadai and so on. The large cooking area of the Kadai grills means that a wide range of food can be cooked and prepared for many at one time. See our accessories range to add to your menu offering. Please note: diameters and weights of each Original Kadai may vary, as each was hand-made with the metal available at the time. The thickness and size of the plates can vary also. As our Original Kadais are a limited supply (due to us having to source them from India) there may be a short wait before your preferred size is available.

Do Millboards come with a Warranty?

Yes, our extensive 25 Year Residential Warranty gives you peace of mind against rotting, splitting, twisting andmildew decay. Millboards are hand crafted in the UK. Full details and terms and conditions can be found onour website.

What fixings should beused to fix Millboards?

Following extensive trials we recommend and supply ‘Durafix’ self drilling stainless steel screws. There isno need to pre-drill or countersink Millboards and the unique Lastane® material will self-heal leaving avirtually indistinguishable mark for a clean finish.

What joist spacing doyou recommend?

Joist spacing of 400mm is recommended for normal residential and light commercial use. On heavycommercial bridges, balconies, moorings, doorways and steps, use 300mm spacing. If you need to cutthe Millboard down along its length, then reduce the joist centres accordingly.

A minimum of 3 joists are required for any cut boards. All Millboards are reinforced for additional strength.For laying 45° to the joist we recommend max 300mm centres and 240mm on commercial applications.

How do I finish theedging detail?

We recommend that our purpose made edging is fitted at steps, and bullnosed or fascia boards at edgesof decking to complement the aesthetic finish and performance of your deck. Fascia boards and edgingcome in rigid as standard, however flexible boards and edges are also available and can be curved tofollow a maximum convex diameter of 3 metres.

Can Millboards be cut just like wood?

Millboard may be cut with a carbon tipped multi-purpose chop saw. Matching colour coating for exposedends is available in 500ml tins. As the formed end of the board is lost when cut, these can be placed inless visual areas against a wall or edging profile.

Are Millboards coloursconsistent and UVstable?

After an initial stabilisation the Lastane® two-tone finish will remain colour stable. As with all flooring it isbest to buy all you need at one time as batches made may vary slightly. Otherwise we recommendblending different batches.

Do Millboards mark? The Lastane® finish is highly resistant to scratches and food and drink stains.

Why are Millboardsvirtually maintenancefree?

Millboards are manufactured with non porous material, therefore resisting both algae growth and stains.There is no need to use any kind of solvent, chemicals, abrasive cleaners, wax, oil or other householdcleaners on Millboards and no need to pressure wash as dirt does not become ingrained. As the surfacetexture is non-porous, any dirt and grime may be simply washed off with soapy water and brushed with abroom before rinsing off, just like internal flooring.

Are all Millboardsanti-slip?

Yes, in accordance with BS79.76 slip resistance tests Millboards lead the industry with their high scoringanti-slip ratings even in wet conditions.

What about wintersnow and ice?

A light application of granulated white salt can be used to help keep your Millboard ice-free, as rock salt canbe very abrasive. A spring-clean of soap and water with a soft broom is recommended when winter is over.

The alternative for your patio

If you want to use your patio primarily when it’s a beautiful day outside, you might fi nd a high-quality weinor awning is the ideal solution. Your weinor partner will gladly provide you with advice on everything from planning to realising your product.

Important information:For textile sun protection: creases occur during manu-facture and when folding the awning fabrics. This can lead to the areas of the fold appearing darker when seen against the light, particularly with light colours. Folds in the hem, seam and fabric lengths occur where there are multiple layers of the woven fabric and diff erent rolling thicknesses on the fabric roller. The resulting fabric tension can cause waviness (e.g. honeycomb or fi sh bone patterns). In principle, these eff ects occur to varying degrees in almost all awning fabrics. Creases and folds do not detract from the value

and usability of an awning. Awnings and conservatory awnings are sun protection devices which should be retracted when it is raining or windy. Wet fabric creases more easily and as far as possible should only be re tracted after drying out (please take care in strong winds and avoid pooling). Depending on the colour of the ordered rack, we supply all small parts as well as crank handles and gear boxes for systems with crank mechanisms in black (similar to RAL 9005), white (similar to RAL 9016) or grey (similar to weinor 7319).

For patio roofs, Glasoase®, conservatories: Ask a qualifi ed conservatory builder about the causes of condensation formation and any cracking sounds which may occasionally be heard and how to avoid them from the planning stage onwards.

Sensors protect your awning

Even when you don’t have an eye on your awning, you still don’t want your patio or conservatory to build up heat. The awning will then open when the sun comes out and retract when it gets too windy or starts to rain.

As a bonus, we have incorpo-rated the WeiTronic Agido product protection sensor into WeiTronic-controlled folding arm awnings as standard. This sensor causes the the awning to retract when a certain pre-set level of vibration and movement is detected.

Patio heating extends your season

Our energy-effi cient Tempura patio heater delivers a heat out-put of 1,500 watts in an ultra-slim housing. The waves only warm up the skin, not the air. Alternatively, you can operate and regulate your Tempura by remote control dimmer, thus ensuring a comfortable tem-perature.

7. Colour coatingweinor products undergo an ex-tensive powder-coating process. This makes them impact- and scratch-resistant. The products are coated in-house to ensure the highest quality and colour fastness. The colours last – even after many years.

1. Folding armAt the heart of a weinor patio awning is the folding arm. It extends the fabric and absorbs wind loads. This requires a high degree of stability. weinor uses drop-forged aluminium in every joint: a lightweight metal but with the same resilience as steel.

6. Stainless steel componentsWe don’t cut corners on the big or small parts. All small parts such as nuts, bolts and screws are made of stainless steel. This keeps them permanently rust-resistant and looking good.

5. Fixing bracketFor your own safety, it is important that the awning be installed by professionals. Resilient drop-forged alumini-um adds to the stability: elegant to look at but still extremely sturdy.

3. Tilting armThe tilting arm members devel-oped by weinor tilt upwards when the awning is retracted, thus ensuring that the cassette closes exactly. When opening, they tilt back to the set tilt angle, click into place, and then move along at a constant dis-tance from the fabric. The pat-ented wind lock safety device prevents the awning from being lifted up by the wind. Cassita and Topas each have a rigid upper arm connection.

2. Round-steel linking chainsThe linking chain in the centre arm joint transmits tension in much the same way as a tendon. Even after moving thousands of times, the round steel chain shows no signs of wear and tear. We back this up with a 10-year warranty.

4. Arm geometryThe fl atter the awning, the closer the fabric stretches to-wards the arm. Wherever possi-ble, it should only lightly rest on the arm, however. weinor achieves this by intelligently angling the arm joints.


8. WeiTronic Agido-868weinor folding arm awnings equipped with WeiTronic are supplied automatically with an Agido sensor. This detects vibrations generated by the wind and reports these to the remote-controlled receiver, which then retracts the awning.

weinor Plaza Pro – enjoy clear skies and surround yourself in fabric at the touch of a button This textile pergola has been developed for heavy loads, especially in the commercial applications. The fabric is rolled out by a motor and then tightened by weinor’s patented counterbalance system in the drop profi le. Once the fabric is fully extended, it is stabilised even more by the crossbeam connecting the two posts. Depending on the projection or if the end-user has a specifi c request, the system can be rein-forced using stiff eners with integrated rain gutters, support rollers and much more. When the unit is pitched at 14° or more, rainwater will drain away via the specially curved guide profi le. Well-engineered details that make a diff erence.

If the outside temperature reaches 27°C, the indoor temperature can rise to 70°C if there is no sun protection. Conservatory awnings are used much longer around the year than awnings with arms. They are used to protect the conservatory from the sun even when it is windy. Precisely this is what the weinor systems are based on, thus making them among the best-selling conservatory awning products.

Outwardly, the only diff erence between the two systems is their external dimensions. The WGM 2030 Design is designed for large areas and has an even higher fabric tension. A plug-in crank in the drop profi le allows you to re-tension the fabric. Your infi nitely adjustable coupling system ensures fabrics open to the exact same position every time even on units with larger projections.

The WGM 1030 incorporates the same basic technology but is of a lighter construction and designed for smaller areas of up to 16 m2. As it is built to hold less fabric, the housing is daintier. The removable end caps of the WGM 1030 and the WGM 2030 Design make both products easier to service and very easy to maintain.

Anyone who owns a roof patio often needs a high-performance anti-glare screen. The Sottezza/LED has been developed for exactly this purpose. It is the perfect complement to the weinor Terrazza patio roof and the Glasoase®, but also to other non-weinor products. On hot days, it off ers a pleasant protection against glare and the sun. Since the Sottezza opens underneath the roof’s glass surface, it is well-protected from showers and dirt. The Sottezza LED version of the awning provides atmospheric lighting in the evening.

The fabricIn the case of the Sottezza, we consciously chose not to go for an overly high fabric tension because the fabric is less ex-posed to windy conditions than a roof-mounted awning. This has enabled us to use fi ner pro-fi les that visually blend in more eff ectively with a patio roof. These profi les, together with the textile look, create a cosy patio atmosphere.

MotorNeedless to say, the smaller-sized Sottezza models can also be opened and retracted using a hand crank. In this case, the awning must be no more than 400 cm wide with a maximum projection of 400 cm. The fabric can then be tightened by manu-ally retracting the awning slightly using the hand-operated crank. The resulting fabric sag has no impact whatsoever on how the system works.

The distance ropeOn Sottezza models with larger widths and/or projections, one or more distance ropes are used.

Coupled systemsFor a harmonious look, coupled awnings open and retract the fabric panels simultaneously. In this case, only one motor is required. Two-section units are supplied with a motor as standard.
