Mon 14 - Sat 19 Jun
Thousands of people every week are now enjoying fantastic
shows at the King’s from the comfort of new seats in the
Stalls and Grand Circle. If you haven’t yet seen for yourself
the completion of phase one of our restoration, there’s
never been a better time to pay us a visit.
The season kicks off with the National Theatre of Scotland
bringing us a new version of the J M Barrie classic Peter
Pan. Written by acclaimed Scottish playwright David Grieg
and directed by Olivier award-winner John Tiffany, this
production is set to be one of our most interesting and
exciting this year.
We’re delighted to be bringing Monty Python’s Spamalot
to Glasgow for the first time. Winner of the 2005 Tony
Award for Best New Musical and featuring the hit song
Always Look On The Bright Side Of Life, this smash-hit
West End and Broadway Musical is not to be missed!
What better way to top your year off than Scotland’s
biggest Christmas tradition - the King’s panto. This year is
a King’s premiere, Snow White and the Seven Dwarfs. With
brand new sets and costumes and not forgetting the best
Scottish comedy talent around, why go anywhere else?
To maximise your visit to the King’s Theatre why not join
our Ambassador Friends scheme? For only £25 a year you
can take advantage of great ticket discounts, reduced bar
prices, exemption from booking fees and priority booking
for most shows and much more. With another wonderful
season ahead there really is no better time to join.

NEWSFLASH!PHASE TWOOF THE KING'SRESTORATIONAlthough subject to final
approval, we're planning to
replace all the seating in the
Upper Circle and start work
on the air conditioning this
summer. The space available
to us in the auditorium
presents a challenge but our
design team have come up
with a way of putting seats of
the same quality as the Stalls
and Grand Circle (although of
a slightly different design) into
the Upper Circle to achieve a
marked improvement to your
comfort. Full air conditioning
will not be achieved until 2011,
but the work we complete this
year will see a significant
improvement to the amount
of fresh air we can circulate
in the auditorium.
Without our customers none
of this would be possible and
we would like to thank you for
your continuing support.
It's also been great to hear
your appreciation for the
phase one improvements.

Just for Joe is a genuine, honest
and often very funny one-woman
account of a singer’s life. As a young
working class girl living in Lanarkshire,
Brenda Cochrane realised her destiny,
whether she liked it or not, was to
become a singer. Her huge talent did
not always bring her happiness and
at times she tried to hide from the
pressures to succeed in a music
business that was more interested
in looks and glamour than ability.
Following a highly successful tour of
Scotland, Brenda is thrilled to return
to the King’s Theatre once again.

This April the National Theatre of Scotland brings Peter Pan
home, presenting a brand new version of one of the most
influential and magical stories ever told by a Scottish writer.
Directed by the National Theatre of Scotland’s own Olivier
Award-winning John Tiffany (Black Watch) and written by multi
award-winning Scottish playwright David Greig (Midsummer,
The Bacchae) this Peter Pan reimagines the Darling family
in Victorian Edinburgh with all its mists, gas-lamps,
bridges and mystery.
Peter’s impish arrival into the lives of Wendy, John and Michael
is the beginning of a thrilling, deliciously naughty, eerie escapade.
Together they take off on a fantastical flight to the colourful
wonderful Never Land, an enchanted place of vivid characters.
Razor-sharp fights, virtuoso flying sequences, acrobats,
ticking crocodiles and one great big hook will ensure the
whole family is drawn into this other- worldly
distinctly Caledonian adventure.
Peter Pan is a co-production between the National
Theatre of Scotland and the Barbican and is presented
by arrangement with the Great Ormond Street Hospital
Children’s Charity and Samuel French Limited
Peter Pan is ideal for the young at heart aged 7 and over.

Whistle Down the Wind is a truly inspiring
musical that reveals how powerful love can
be when the innocence of childhood collides
with the cynicism of the adult world.
In a twist of fate the bright-eyed and youthful Swallow discovers
a mysterious man hiding in her family’s barn. When she asks for
his identity the first words he utters are ‘Jesus Christ’ and it’s as
though her prayers have been answered. While the rest of the
townspeople are searching for a fugitive escaped from jail,
Swallow gathers the town’s children who make a pact to protect
their new found saviour from the cruelties of the outside world.
Jonathan Ansell, who won the heart of the nation as lead
vocalist in X Factor runners-up G4, stars as The Man in
this, his musical debut.
An extraordinary and uplifting tale about the transforming
power of love, Whistle Down the Wind is based on the beloved
60s film starring Hayley Mills. This record-breaking theatrical
sensation is a stunning combination of powerful all new staging,
epic storytelling and multi award-winning songs including
Boyzone’s international hit No Matter What.

Three 70-something hard-working cleaners are facing the axe.
They are past their best, beyond their sell-by-date and over the
hill but they certainly won’t take their redundancy lying down.
These game ‘girls’ set up a phone-sex service ‘The Telephone
Belles’ and that’s when the fun really begins. Their bosses don’t
know about it, their families don’t know about it and their
very willing customers definitely don’t know about it.
They’re the only chat-line girls with dusters, attitude and
their very own bus passes! Don’t miss the original old-timers
who become good-time girls in this year’s must-see comedy.

Glasgow, Calendar Girls has triumphed in the
West End. Now it's back for two weeks only
but this time Glasgow's very own Elaine C
Smith plays Miss October originally played

A group of ordinary women do something
extraordinary and spark a global phenomenon
when they persuade one another to pose for
a charity calendar with a difference!
Last time, Calendar Girls sold out in Glasgow
before it even opened so don’t miss out and
book today for the show the Daily Mail called
‘a marvellous, uplifting night at the theatre’.
