Part 3a Questions 16 – 20 Read the email from your friend Wendy. Circle the correct letter A, B or C. Hi!
I had an amazing holiday. We're supposed to go to France as I told you but mom
wanted to visit China and dad didn't like it. So we went to Italy. It was great! We went to
many places like the museum and parks but I loved the restaurants there. The food was
delicious.
The hotel we were in was very beautiful, there were very old houses around it. There
was a huge castle on the other side. I liked the view a lot. I wanted to try windsurfing but
it wasn't windy so I learnt table-tennis. It was fun. My parents went for swimming.
Then we went to a very beautiful city which I can't remember its name but it was very
beautiful. I bought you a present in the market. I didn’t find the earrings that you wanted
or the jacket but I got you a ring.
I hope we can see each other before school starts. I missed you a lot.
Wendy

Part 3b Questions 21 – 25 Read the email from your friend Lou. Circle the correct answer A, B or C.
Hi
Last Saturday was a busy day because we moved. My mum cried when we left our old
house, but I was really excited.
We haven’t moved far. Actually, we still live in the same part of town, but our old house
was small and we needed more bedrooms. It takes me longer to get to school now, but
that’s OK.
Our new house has three floors. The ground floor has the kitchen and living room, the
first floor has my parents’ room, my sister’s room and the bathroom, and my brother and I
have our bedrooms on the top floor. My bedroom has red walls and long curtains, which
we’ve just washed. The carpet’s rather old and I’d like to get a new one, but everything
else is fine.
Today’s the last school day before the holidays. I wanted to go swimming tomorrow, but I
have to go with my dad to buy some furniture.
Write soon,
Lou
