Welcome To The New Employee Call
• On behalf of the Learning and Professional Development (LAPD), we want to welcome you to the Kindred at Home team!!!
• Today’s call is designed to give you a basic introduction to the orientation process that Kindred at Home has in place for clinical employees
• Our goal is to assist you in making this process a smooth transition and to introduce you to the resources that Kindred at Home has for your utilization
• You will benefit from having a copy of this presentation, your orientation track sheets & class schedules

Tracks & Schedules• Your branch will provide you the appropriate track for
your job classification as well as the schedule for your reference
• We encourage you to take the classes in the order that you see on the track. The courses will be loaded in alphabetical order so use your track sheet as your guide
• Many of the courses are designed as pre-work for your virtual classes, so staying on track with the timeframes is important!
• The classes are a combination of self paced, e-learning, live facilitated as well as virtual

Tracks Sheets Track 1, 2 or 3
Technology• We encourage you to take classes in your agency, and on
an agency computer in case there is a technical issue, you’ll have someone to help you. If you do take the class from your home I-Pad/computer YOU will be expected to manage the technical issue and make sure that the proper programs are loaded
• We do not recommend that you to take the virtual classes on an I-Pad. If you choose to do so make sure it is formatted for class participation (via the Help Desk) and you know how to navigate the device and that you can post in a chat box-raise your hand-leave the classroom
• Call the help desk/preceptor if you need assistance

Pre-Class Preparations
• Join the class at least 15-20 minutes prior to the start time of the class
• Log in with Computer/I-Pad-Launch to the class from your learn plan-sign in with your first/last name
• Call in & mute phone by pressing *-6 (star-6) on your phone. Your phone is not muted until you hear the confirmation message
• Read & Follow the instructions posted in the class• Please note all classes are based on Eastern Time• Class begins promptly at the scheduled time • Move your mouse to prevent your screen from going to
sleep6
What To Bring To Class/Orientation
• Handouts for the Class• Pen/paper/highlighter• Jacket• Lunch/Snack/Drink/Candy/Gum• Bring a head set for any e-learning classes, if desired

How To Raise Your Hand
• At the top of your screen, locate the black tool bar• Locate the icon man raising his hand• Next to the man there is an upside down triangle-click on
that triangle. You’ll see a drop down box-click 1st one to raise your hand-click on the last one red x at the bottom clear status to lower your hand

How To Edit Your Name In The Participants’ Box
• At the door of the classroom you should always sign in with your first/last name. If sharing one computer – list every participants name separately
• To edit your name-look in the upper right hand corner of the attendees box where you see your name it looks like horizontal lines-and when you put your mouse there-it has a pop up- pod options-click
• Go to the 3rd one down edit information• Type in the first/last name of everyone sharing the
computer• This creates the permanent back up roster for the class

Door To The Classroom • The door to the classroom will be locked with no
admittance for those just entering the classroom for the 1st time after 5 minutes
• If you were in the class in the first 5 minutes (verified) and you were dropped from the classroom-go out to the desk top and re-launch into the classroom a pop up notice will come up on the instructors end-be patient you will be allowed to enter at the end of the slide that is being taught
• The instructor will consult the SIGN IN on the Attendance/Chat box to verify that you were in the class in the first 5 minutes

Technical Issues
• Get help from your contact person in your agency -they are better able to assist you as they can “view” your screen and troubleshoot
• If there is a nationwide technical issue the instructor will announce/ post written guidance for the class
• For isolated issues please contact the help desk for assistance 800-944-4357

Telephone-I-Pad-Computer Issues
• Phone issues: – Hang up and dial back in, many times this will resolve the issue if
not …– Try changing phones if that doesn’t work, or – If you are on a cell phone try using a landline
• I-Pad/Computer issues-– 1-Go all the way out to the desk top, -then go into your
Kindredathomelearning site and re-launch, it should fix the issue, try that 1-3x,
– 2-IF that doesn’t work, try changing devices (Computer/I-Pad). If the problem is persistent please contact the Help Desk

Finally…..
• If you are more than 5 minutes late we ask that you not interrupt the learning of your class mates
-please re-register for the class at a future date and time• You cannot receive credit for the class by just listening .
We have to verify that you were in the classroom-• Follow the 3 key instructions in each Virtual Classroom
– SIGN IN on the Attendance/Chat for class credit – Dial the phone number and use the Access Code listed– Mute/unmute your phone line using *6 (star six)

Attendance/Chat Box-How To Post
• Go all the way to the bottom of the CHAT BOX, to the (white bar)click in that box-see red arrow
• This is where you type your Name/Title, Location and Manager’s Name, for class credit
• If you want to change the color/size of your font click-blue arrow-upper right hand corner

Your Assignments -
• Face to Face: what it is your role and your responsibility? How is the document completed and tracked?
• Therapist only 30 day evaluation: what it is your role and responsibility? How is the reassessment documented and tracked?
• Medicare week that your branch utilizes• Enroll in all required virtual sessions: see information box
for schedule of all of your virtual classes• Print the handouts for all of your virtual classes

At The End Of The Class……
• Sign-Out in the Attendance/Chat box yet Do not just walk away-make sure you exit out of the class room
• Exit out of the Adobe Connect Website. It is different for everyone so look for the White X in a Red box in the upper right corner or hover over your server Icon ( Explorer, Firefox, Chrome) and close that window.
• Hang up the phone• Complete the post test: credit for the class is given with
successful completion of the test and/or evaluation. It will be noted on your transcript.
