you see?’ You can also include your challenge task when you email.

E.g dazzling, shimmering, beautiful. Can you think of 5 adjectives to describe the Rainbow Fish. Eg. shiny, fancy, beautiful, kind. Complete the worksheet ‘Rainbow Fish Adjectives’. Write your adjectives around the picture of the Rainbow Fish and then colour the picture of the Rainbow Fish.

Water is important to keep us hydrated and healthy. We should drink water throughout the day. It is
recommended that children drink at least 5 glasses of water per day. If you are going to exercise or
play sports, you need to drink before, during and after the game. You need water to perform at your
best!

Introduce AB patterns - Explain that an AB pattern has two parts, the A and the B. Model how to create an AB pattern with spoons and forks eg A = spoon and B = fork. Ask the child to make another AB pattern with two different objects. Eg red pencil, blue pencil, red pencil, blue pencil. Can you make an AB pattern using your body (eg clap your hands once, then click your fingers once and repeat) have your child copy and then create their own AB actions. Complete the Colouring in Patterns worksheet by making an AB pattern. You could use two different colours (eg red and blue) or two different patterns (eg stripes and spots) to represent the A and B in the pattern. Patterns can be more complex than just ABAB. They can be combinations as shown below:

Collect a variety of items from around your home such as pegs, coins, lego blocks, sticks, leaves, cutlery, blocks. You are going to make some patterns starting with a simple AB pattern eg stick, leaf, stick, leaf. Ask your child what would come next? Repeat with a variety of combinations and objects. Have your child create some patterns for their parents to complete. You could also make a pattern and then remove one of the pieces and the child has to work out what is missing. Can you Complete the Pattern worksheet by cutting and pasting the missing pattern piece in the box? Don’t forget to neatly colour in the pictures, but make sure the colours match the pattern also.
Super Maths Challenge: This is an optional problem solving activity for those children that love a challenge. Send your teacher your answer but make sure you include details of how you worked it out. Good luck!!

Choose an animal that can be found in the ocean and write 1 fact (true information) on the ‘Sea Creature Facts’ worksheet. Eg. A shark has sharp teeth. An octopus has 8 legs. Challenge Use books or the internet to find facts about sea creatures. Write 2 facts about your chosen animal. Eg. A turtle has a hard shell and it lays eggs. They eat jellyfish.

Handwriting Complete the letter ‘x’ worksheet. MATHEMATICS Sing and dance along to the Counting backwards from 20 song https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=srPktd4k_O8 Play Helicopter Rescue - Find the number between 1 and 20. https://www.topmarks.co.uk/learning-to-count/helicopter-rescue For something more difficult you could pick between 1 and 50 or 1 and 100.
Using the Number cards 1-20 worksheet, cut up the 20 number cards. Have your child sort the cards in order from 1 to 20. Then try backwards from 20 to 1. Lay the cards out in a 5 x 5 grid, remove one card. Ask your child which card is missing? Ask which number comes after 14? Which number comes before 12? Continue with a variety of questions. For something more difficult ask which number is two numbers before 14? Or two numbers after 12? Complete the Apple Counting worksheet by glueing the numbers from 20 to 1.

The Rainbow Fish lives in the ocean with all of the other sea creatures. Imagine that you are snorkelling in the ocean. What animals can you see? Can you see some coral or plants?
Complete the writing worksheet to explain what you can see in the deep blue sea (What can you see?).
Eg. I can see a pink fish and a little crab.
Challenge
Write 2 sentences to explain what you can see. Remember to use some interesting adjectives.
Eg. I can see a little pink fish and an orange crab. The fish and the crab are friends.
Writing tips: ● Remember to leave spaces in between each word ● Start your sentence with a capital letter ● Use a full stop at the end of a sentence ● Stretch out your words and listen to the sounds ● Use adjectives to make your writing more interesting ● Try your best!

Pretend that you are a sea creature and think about how you would move. Can you swim like a: shark, fish, dolphin, octopus. Now choose your own sea creature. Complete the ‘Rainbow Fish’ mask. Colour and decorate your mask. Cut around the outline of the fish and cut holes for the eyes so you can see. Add a paddle pop stick or a straw so you can hold it in front of your face.
Challenge of the week: Under the Sea!
This week your challenge is to use your imagination to create something that can be found ‘under the sea’.
The following are some ideas to get you started:
• A diorama
• Playdoh scene (underwater scene or a sea
creature figure)
• Paint or draw a picture
• Make something with objects from around
the house
• A lego creation
• Make a 3D animal using cardboard boxes
and paper towel rolls
• Use a paper plate
It could be a rainbow fish, a seahorse, some colourful coral or even shells surrounded by sand! The possibilities
are endless. See below for some ideas and inspiration.
Have fun and make sure you send your teacher a picture of your creation! We can’t wait to see what you come
up with!
