4Carpet TimeCarpet time is a time for students to get away from the desks for some time, but still learn. During carpet time some activities that can be done are:Go over the letter/number of the weekCalendarRead a storyNursery rhymes

5Word WallA word wall is a list of sight words that are used throughout Kindergarten reading.Help the prepare the students for first gradeThe words can be added to the wall according to the pace of the teacher

Word Wall ExamplesWord walls can be done different ways

They can be done using a magnetic whiteboard

They can even be posted on the wall with sticky tack

Behavior ChartsSometimes used in classrooms Monitor their own behaviorStudents need a visual to see how they are doingEx: Three color cards: Green, Yellow, Red Color Behavior ChartsHandy because students know at yellow they have an opportunity to change their behaviorRed they will have punishment

Classroom OrganizationImportant part on both the students and teacher. Some things to help would be:Cubbies for studentsBookshelvesCommunity Supply BinsOrganizes supplies the students share dailyLabels on everything in classroomLabel with pictures/words so students can help keep things organized
