  • Valve Sizing

    Cavitation

    Flashing

    Vena Contracta

  • Valve Sizing

Step 1 Identify type of service (Gas / Liquid)

Identify the application of the valve (LCV, PCV) and flow characteristic (snap / throttle)

    Step 2

Step 3 Enter the Process Data to software: Specific Gravity Temperature (F, C), Critical Flow Factor (Cf) (Asume 0.75 for first calculation), Upstream Pressure (psig), Downstream Pressure (psig), Flow: (Gas - MMSCFD, CFM, m3/d, m3/h) (Liquids BPD, GMP)

  • Valve Sizing

    Step 4 Calculate Cvp value

Multiply the Cvp value by two and find the Cv value in the Kimray tables. Note: Choose a valve that will support the pressure and meets with the application.

    Step 5

Step 6 Divide CVp/CVv and find out if the valve is with in 20% and 80% of its flowing capacity.

Step 7 Second Calculation Introduce the new value for Cf and calculate Cv again. With the Cvv calculate maximum flow when the valve is 100% open.
