Travelling to OxfordshireRoad - the M40 motorway goes through thenorth-east of the county linking Banbury,Bicester and Oxford directly with London,Birmingham and the North. It meets the M25London orbital motorway at junction 16. Themajor north-south route through the countyis the A34 which links the Midlands and theNorth with Southampton, crossing the M4 atjunction 13. The A420 road provides a fast linkto Swindon and the M4 at junction 15.The A40 is the major western route to Witney,Gloucester, Cheltenham and the M5. Rail - London Paddington is just an hour awayfrom Oxford. Services to Birmingham andBirmingham airport also take one hour onVirgin Trains. Lying between the Ridgeway and theRiver Thames, the Vale of White Horsestretches from the edge of Oxford to thethreshold of the Cotswolds.
