#NPLNSWCLUB WELCOME

We welcome all of our supporters, members, sponsors, players and officials

to this round 9 clash with Blacktown City.

It has been a tough few weeks for our team with results not going our way. Last week, despite creating a number of chances, we went down 2-1 away against Marconi. It was a familiar story for us with lady luck not on our side. That said, the boys remain confident that they have what it takes to turn it around and what better way to do so than against competition heavyweights, Blacktown City.

Our last clash against Blacktown was a fantastic semi-final victory so we are hoping to be able to celebrate another famous win over a very good football side from Blacktown.

On a brighter note, our under 20’s recorded their second win of the season last weekend whilst our under 18’s won again putting them in equal first position on the ladder.

We look forward to today’s big game and we urge you, our wonderful fans, to get behind the team.

As always, we would like to acknowledge our wonderful supporters.

NPLNSW.COM.AU 1ST GRADE MATCH PREVIEW

It has not been the start to the season Rockdale City Suns fans would’ve expected, but the Paul Reid coached side is set to put their struggles behind them as they take on Blacktown City this Sunday.

Sitting third from the bottom of the ladder, Rockdale have failed to live up to expectations after eight rounds.

But it has not been all bad from the Suns with the side showing glimpses of what they are capable of.

Against Blacktown they are sure to be tested. one bright spot this campaign has been the form of Alec Urosevski who is scoring for fun and creating chance after chance for his teammates.

He will need to be at his best if Rockdale can spring an upset.

Blacktown were pushed to the limit last round by a plucky Hakoah Sydney City East side but did

enough to claim their first win in three weeks.

They will not want another lean spell of results like that again this season so expect nothing but strong performances from Mark Crittenden’s men.

Devante Clut is a player to watch in this match with the former Newcastle Jets midfielder out to prove he deserves another shot in the A-League while Joey Gibbs is hoping to hit some goalscoring form for the visitors.

Goalkeeper Stevan Savicic has also been rather solid since taking over the duties due to an injury to Tristan Prendergast as the youngster hopes to cement his spot as the number one keeper at the club.

Expect a high scoring game between two sides with plenty play for.

#NPLNSWMATCH REVIEWSMarconi Stallions 2 – Rockdale City Suns 1 at Marconi Stadium

Marconi has clinched back to back wins after downing Rockdale City Suns at Marconi Stadium on Saturday night.

The result continues Marconi’s great run of form with an impressive showing in the first half setting the platform for a morale boosting win.

An early goal to James Andrew plus a second half strike to Judah Cleur gave the home side a 2-0 lead with a little over 30 minutes left on the clock.

However, The Suns were determined to fight their way back into the match and managed to get one goal back through Alec Urosevski.

Marconi were forced to weather the storm in the dying stages as the Suns pushed for an equaliser, but in the end the home side did enough to secure all three points.

Blacktown City 3 – Hakoah Sydney City East 2 at Lily Homes Stadium

Blacktown City ended a three-match winless run with a 3-2 victory over Hakoah Sydney City East in a heated encounter at Lily’s Football Centre on Saturday evening.

Two goals in a three minute spell before half time proved critical for Blacktown who established a 2-0 buffer at the break thanks to Joey Gibbs’ back post header and Grant Lynch’s clever finish from close range.

A see-sawing second half saw Duncan Stewart bring Hakoah back into contention from the penalty spot before Blacktown restored their two goal advantage through a stunning Yianni Spyrakis goal midway through the period.

Substitute Anthony Frangie pulled a goal back for the visitors to ensure it would be a tense final ten minutes but Blacktown held on to secure their first league win since a victory over APIA Leichhardt Tigers in late May.

NPLNSW.COM.AU U20’S MATCH PREVIEW

Blacktown City are shooting for six straight victories in their clash with Rockdale City

Suns at Ilinden Sports Centre in round nine’s final fixture.

John Carnevale’s side kept their winning streak and maintained their pursuit of leaders Sutherland Sharks with a 1-0 defeat of Hakoah Sydney City East last Saturday, a match that saw City eventually break down a dogged Hakoah defence with a late winner.

The visitors are likely to face a similar challenge against Rockdale, who have been hugely inconsistent this campaign but come into the encounter unbeaten in their last three matches.

If the Suns can match Blacktown’s intensity in the opening stages and utilize the goal threat of Dimitrios Petratos they stand a good chance of making it a frustrating afternoon for the in-form side from Seven Hills.
