“SOUND” AND “FAITHFUL” “Sound” and “faithful” are two good adjectives that, by usage, have

been redefined.

“Sound” means “healthy” and “whole.” By usage it has come to mean,

“agrees with me on a specific list of issues.” Some cantankerous church

splitters have been called “sound.”

“Faithful” covers a whole life-style, “walking in the light” and “walk in

the footsteps of the faith our father Abraham had.” As it has come to be

used, it just means “regularly attends church.” One who was always in

congregational assemblies and often served or led was found to have had

several sexual affairs over a period of several years. Someone said, “And

all that time he was a faithful member of the church.” -Cecil May Jr., Preacher Talk
