FROM THE
WELCOME
Sydney Olympic would like to welcome everyone back to Belmore Sports Ground
for our Round 11 match day against Sutherland Sharks.
We’ve had a strong start to the season with our First Grade team achieving some quality results and our Under 20s and Under 18s showing some promising results as we get closer to the second half of the season.
Our senior players have shown great strength, skill and composure during the season and we would like to commend them along with our entire coaching staff on their performance throughout the season so far.
We’ve enjoyed success in the Westfield FFA
Cup preliminary rounds and our win against Parramatta FC last Wednesday has us heading through to Round 7, where we will take on Dulwich Hill or Bankstown Berries FC.
Our club is lucky to have teams in several NPL and SAP Competitions and we’d like to commend our SAP, Youth and Women’s programs for their performances in the season so far. We’ve achieved some great results, but more than that we have had the pleasure of watching our players proudly represent Sydney Olympic and embody the values of our Club.
Next week we will host Bonnyrigg in the Heritage Round and we hope to see the stands of Belmore filled with Blue and White as we support the rich heritage of our Club.
We are ambitious to build strong relationships with local football clubs and provide opportunities for these clubs to be involved with Sydney Olympic FC. You’ll see this today as we have some players and coaches from Strathfield FC here with us. We would like to say a special thank you to the players and coaches from Strathfield FC for participating in our match day today and being ball boys for our First Grade game.
I hope you enjoy the games today and we hope to see you at our next home game, next Sunday 28th May as we take on Bonnyrigg White Eagles and kick off the second half of the season!

The upheaval of losing coach Jaime Monroy at a key point of the season is sure to have had
an impact on Sydney Olympic in recent weeks.
A dour draw with Hakoah last week does not display bright signs for Olympic after what was a strong start to the campaign.
Against Sutherland they will need to build on their strong passing and possession game to defeat another young side brimming with energy.
Sutherland Sharks has also found themselves with a new manager after Grant Lee. A win last round could be the kick start his team needs to turn its season around.
Lee will be coming up against his former team and his beloved Blues.
Look to Yu Kuboki up font for Olympic while Max Burgess and Hagi Gligor will pull the strings in midfield.
For Sutherland, it is all about Tomohiro Kajiyma and what impact he can make alongside talented young marksman Jeremy Cox who has been a revelation for the Shire side in recent weeks.
A win for the Sharks could put a major dint in Olympic’s finals hopes.

Hakoah Sydney City East FC 0 - Sydney Olympic FC 0 at Hensley Athletic Field
Hakoah Sydney City East FC and Sydney Olympic FC have shared the spoils in a hard-fought clash at Hensley Athletic field.
It is the third straight game without defeat for Hakoah who move up to seventh position on the ladder only three points outside the top five.
Olympic cling onto fifth place on 18 points but will need much improved results in coming weeks to secure their spot in the finals.
Sutherland Sharks FC 3 - Parramatta FC 1 at Seymour Shaw
Grant Lee has notched his first PlayStation®4 National Premier Leagues NSW Men’s win as Sutherland Sharks coach with a dominant 3-1 victory over Parramatta FC at Seymour Shaw on Saturday night.
A double to Tomohiro Kajiyama and a sublime header from Jeremy Cox was enough for the Sharks.
While a late consolation goal from Parramatta’s Gio Cerasoli ruined the home side’s clean sheet, the result was enough to secure a second win in three games for Sutherland.

UNDER 20s
Reigning champions Sydney Olympic appear to be returning to form following two wins in
a row and the Blues could make a big statement when leaders Sutherland Sharks arrive at Belmore Sports Ground on Sunday lunchtime.
Two clean sheets and victories over second-placed Sydney United 58 and finals hopefuls Hakoah Sydney City East has Olympic well-primed for the visit of Sutherland, who come into the match following a gritty 2-1 win over Parramatta.
The Sharks still remain the team to beat at the halfway point of the regular season and should provide a good measure of Olympic’s championship credentials when the two clash on the weekend.
