FROM THE

WELCOME

On behalf of Blacktown City FC, we would like to welcome our members, supporters,

and players to our home ground Lily Homes Stadium for our last home game of the regular season. Today’s Round 21 match is a first v second clash against APIA Leichhardt Tigers FC.

To our Under 13s players who are acting as ball boys & also to the parents who are volunteering a big thank you from the club.

Today we will be drawing the winner of the Nissan Micra at half time in the first grade match, if you haven’t already purchased tickets you can do so at the ticket box or front gate.

In our round 20 match against Rockdale City Suns last weekend, first grade recorded a come from behind draw 1-1. Coach Mark Crittenden said that it was a tough match especially with so many first grade players out injured. Man of the Match Yuta Kanagawa said that he was happy with the draw and he was looking forward to the midweek Westfield FFA match against the Central Coast Mariners especially as he has never played against an Hyundai A-League team before.

The 20s recorded a 2-2 draw, Coach John Carnevale said that it was disappointing to draw the match especially the way they conceded a late goal. He also said that the team was mostly made of players under the age of 20 and they are well placed with 2 matches to go before the finals.

The 18s lost 4-2 after being down 3-0 at the break. Coach Nick Verdos said he was happy that the boys responded in the second half but after they conceded the fourth goal, the game was all but over.

Again thanks to all our sponsors and partners for their continued support throughout the season.

Best of luck to our Youth teams who are playing against Blacktown Spartans FC and also our SAP teams who are playing against Bonnyrigg White Eagles FC this weekend.

Enjoy a great day of football and we hope to see you again next season.

Kind Regards Chris Michael Business Development & Marketing Manager Blacktown City Football Club

MATCH

FIRST GRADE

The entire premiership race goes on the line this Sunday when first placed Blacktown City

host second placed APIA Leichhardt Tigers.

Two weeks ago it appeared as if Blacktown would win the competition in a canter, but results have gone the way of APIA leading to sunday’s premiership decider.

Both teams come into the match off the back of FFA Cup matches midweek, however APIA’s trip to Tasmania to play on tuesday night could take more of a toll on their squad after Blacktown hosted the Central Coast Mariners.

A slip-up against Manly United two weeks ago was a rare blip in what has been an incredible season for Mark Crittenden’s Blacktown team.

They have led the competition since the early rounds and have lost only two games all season.

APIA come into the match full of confidence after a good run of results since their heartbreaking Waratah Cup defeat to Hakoah Sydney City East.

Danial Cummins has his side firing on all cylinders and determined to snatch the Premiership title from Blacktown’s grasp.

With so much riding on this match expect the contest to be a hard fought affair.

Blacktown City FC 1 - Rockdale City Suns FC 1 at Lily’s Football Stadium

A desperation strike from Daniel Araujo has helped Blacktown City snatch a last gasp 1-1 draw with Rockdale City Suns at Lily’s Football Centre on Sunday.

Aruajo’s 77th minute goal ensured Blacktown retained their spot at the top of the PlayStation®4 National Premier Leagues NSW Men’s competition ladder.

Rockdale will feel like it was two points lost after taking the lead when Jonathan Grozdanovski fired home with twenty minutes to play.

However the competition leaders delivered in the final stages despite a slow and conservative approach for most of the match.

The result means Blacktown will have a chance at securing the Premiership next week when they take on second placed APIA Leichhardt Tigers.

APIA Leichhardt Tigers FC 5 - Manly United FC 0 at Lambert Park

APIA Leichhardt has fought their way back into PlayStation®4 National Premier Leagues NSW Men’s Premiership contention after a comprehensive 5-0 win against Manly United FC at Lambert Park on Saturday.

A red card to Manly captain Brendan Cholakian after only ten minutes set the tone for the match and APIA didn’t hold back in turning the screws on their opposition.

The Tigers went on a rampage in the first half with three unanswered goals in 12 minutes courtesy of Sean Symons, Nathan Millgate and Tasuku Sekiya to set up a 3-0 half time lead.

Sekiya struck again in the second half to claim a brace while Dominic Cox also found the back of the net to round out the 5-0 thrashing.

APIA’s victory sets up an exciting final race for the Premiership with Blacktown holding only a one point lead with two rounds to play.

FEATURE STORY

VALE

Football NSW is deeply saddened to hear the news of the passing of Australian iconic

legend, ‘Mr Football’, Les Murray today.

Les was one of Australian Football’s finest ambassadors and advocates and his countless hours and relentless efforts promoting football across Australia, from grassroots to the elite, will stand both unequalled and forever admired.

Les’ love for football and his long legacy of contribution towards it will be long live in the memory of everyone not only at Football NSW, but the entire football community across Australia.

Football NSW Chairman Anter Isaac paid tribute to the man that put this sport on the map in Australia.

“To many people, Les was football.

“I, like so many football fans, grew up watching Les on SBS promote football, and especially Australian football, daily.

“And along with his good friend, Johnny Warren, continued to protect Australian football, its clubs, players and coaches, when others simply could not or would not.

“For his courage and unquestioned loyalty to football, we will be indebted, and Les has left us all an incredible benchmark to carry on his work and commitment in the years to come.”

Football NSW would like to pass on its deepest condolences to the Murray family.

May he rest in heavenly peace.

APIA Leichhardt Tigers will have their position in the top five on the line when

Franco Consentino’s side take on second-placed Blacktown City in Seven Hills on Sunday afternoon.

The Tigers lie fourth on the ladder but anything less than a win against Blacktown could see Sydney United 58 and Rockdale City Suns go ahead of APIA should the fellow finals chasers win their respective matches against Manly United and Wollongong Wolves.

With APIA set to welcome the in-form Rockdale side to Lambert Park next Sunday in what looks likely to be a straight shootout for fourth or fifth position, the Tigers will know only a victory will suffice against Blacktown.

Forward Aedon Kyra notched his fifteenth goal of the campaign in APIA’s 2-1 win against Manly in round 20 and will present the central danger for the Blacktown defence, while City attacker

Mason Ireland trails Kyra by a single goal in the golden boot standings.

The visitors claimed a 2-0 victory over Blacktown in their round 10 meeting at Lily’s.
