THOUGHT OF THE WEEK
Lord, every nation on earth will adore you!
THE EPIPHANY OF THE LORD
January 7th, 2018 ~ YEAR B
REFLECTION
EPIPHANY is a wonderful word. In a
single word it means a manifestation. In our
celebration today we celebrate the
'manifestation' of Jesus to the gentiles which
basically means anyone who is not a Jew. The
Magi represent all of us! In many words an
epiphany is; 'a moment when you suddenly
feel that you understand, or suddenly become
conscious of, something that is very important
to you'. Personally I think that there are big
epiphanies and little epiphanies in my faith life.
Sometimes in prayer when I feel God's
presence or when Fr. Jack says; "God was sure
at work today" and I realize how right he is, or
when I hear a very inspiring homily at Mass.
A big epiphany for me was after my
ordination. I was with a friend who had been
ordained for a few years and he asked me to
ride with him to the reception because he did-
n't know the way. When we got to the car he
turned to me and said "I want to be your first
confession". I said "Oh my God you can't do
that to me!" and he responded "Randy, I would
like the honour of being your first penitent." So
we celebrated! It was awesome to know God's
presence and gift there in my friend's car in the
Church parking lot where I first felt a share in
the priesthood of Jesus. I believe that every
time we celebrate the sacraments it is an
epiphany experience when Jesus reveals
Himself to us.

Psalm 72
GOD IS THE SOURCE OF ALL BLESSINGS: In His goodness He fills His
creatures with His many blessings as a sign of His great mercy. Christ is the blessing of the
Father. He blesses His brothers and sisters and cures the world through His blessing.
When the Lord blesses us He is promising His help in our needs and He is always faithful to
His promises. People bless the Lord when they proclaim His glory, and give Him
thanksgiving, praise and obedience.
When the people bless others, they call for help from the Lord; they praise His kindness and
majesty and they ask for the Lord’s generosity for all those whom the Lord governs and holds
in His providing hands.
“To all who would accept Him, Christ gave the power to become children of God.” Receive the
Word of God, not as the human would, but like it really is; as the Word of God.

EPIPHANY OF THE LORD Today the divine epiphany of the only begotten Son of God is proclaimed. Today the Magi from the East led by a star, come to see the newborn man. They come and adore Jesus, who comes to us as the Servant of God and people. Let every nation on earth adore Him, because He made pagans a participant of salvation. The Epiphany means ‘God reveals himself in human person’. Today God reveals His Only Begotten Son for all nations, and He desires us to behold the beauty of His sublime glory and share in his promises. The names of the wise-men who visited the Lord were Casper, Melchior, Balthazar. St. Augustine explained this description of which we put on the lentil of the door, C+M+B+ 2018. Written in Latin this means ‘Christus est multorum.’ Benefactor which
means: Through the Cross, Christ is the Benefactor of all who dwell in the houses which have the inscription C+M+B+2018. The Benefactor is Our Savior. These words express the whole greatness of the Merciful Love of which Jesus is the Personification. He is the face of Mercy, Pope Francis said. Today the Church blesses chalk and the incense we will use to put on our door lentils.
Teresa Bordin (Marrcone) Peacefully at Sault Area Hospital on Tuesday, January 2, 2018,
Teresa Bordin passed at the age of 91. Predeceased by her beloved husband Guido. Lovingly cher-ished by her children Christine, Robert (Belinda), Joseph (Dianne), Mark (Nancy), Michael (Bonnie) and the late Paul. As Matriarch, Teresa was lovingly dedicated to her family. She made every holi-day and family event very special. She loved to bake, cook, garden and always needed to make sure that everyone was well fed. Teresa was very dedicated to her church and parish family. She was a minister of the Eucharist, a lecturer, a member of the choir and C.W.L., until her failing health required her to step down. The ladies prayer group was also special to Teresa and meant so very much to her. The one thing that Teresa always shared with everyone, and was known as
her trademark, was her big, beautiful smile. Whether sick, sad, happy or glad, she always wore a smile that made you smile back, leaving a lasting impression on your heart. She will be greatly missed but we have been blessed to have her in our lives. A Funeral Mass was held at Holy Family Parish on Sat. Jan.6, 2018 at 10:00am. Fr. Boguslaw officiat-ed. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to the F. J. Davey Home Foundation or Holy Family Parish.
In your Mercy Lord,we entrust Teresa to your care.
Z ŻYCIA KOŚCIOŁA 1. Do Mędrców nie przemawiał żaden anioł. Zajaśniała im „Światłość prawdziwa, która oświeca każdego
człowieka”. Wyruszyli w drogę. Szukali i znaleźli Pana. Objawienie, Epiphania dokonuje się także dla nas, gdy słyszymy słowa Orędzia: „Przybył Pan i Władca”. W sakramentalnych znakach przy-chodzi do nas Król Wszechświata, Sługa Boga i ludzi.
On przynosi prawo miłości i przeba-czenia. On zwiastuje pokój, uzdrawia wszystkich. O Nim, Ojciec daje świa-dectwo:„To jest mój Syn umiłowany, Jego słuchajcie”
3. Swięty Augusty tłumaczył ten napis- C+M+B+2018 Christus est multorum Benefactor = Chrystus jest Dobrodziejem wszystkich w tym domu mieszkających przez Krzyż. Dobrodziej=Benefactor to znaczy nasz Zbawiciel. Te słowa wyrażają całą wielkość Miłosiernej Miłość, której uosobie-niem jest Jezus. „On jest Obliczem miłosierdzia”- (papież Franciszek).
CWL meeting Monday Jan,7th @ 7:00pm, in the church hall.
