Roy Chubby Brown returns with his meatiest show yet! ‘Don’t get Fit! Get Fat!’

He’s still rude, he’s still crude and this time he’s turning headlines into punch lines as his rip-roaring brand of banter continues to burst bellies across the country.

Chubby doesn’t hold back from sharing his outlandish views on news, women and gender, sailing so close to the mark, even the most seasoned of fans will be left gob-smacked!

ROY CHUBBY BROWNdon’t gEt Fit! gEt FAt!

Yes him with the loud shirts and messed up hair from Mock the Week, Live at the Apollo, Michael McIntyre’s Roadshow and multiple series on Radio 4.

“Temple of Daft” will showcase Milton’s trademark gags, which are as attention-grabbing as those brightly coloured shirts. If this show is a hat,

it would be a crown fi t for a king, and covered in rare and precious jokes. The show is a rip-roaring quest to fi nd buried treasure. But will Milton learn that the best treasure is to be found in people’s hearts?

Let’s hope not, that would be really dull.

glinka overture: ruslan and ludmilla

beethoven piano concerto no.4

rachmaninov Symphony no.2

Jamie phillips conductor | andrew tyson piano

Rachmaninov’s magnificent Second Symphony has a wealth of great melodies and is a superb reminder that when it was first performed in 1908, its composer remained a glorious romantic anachronism. Before this, Andrew Tyson, returns for the limpid beauty of Beethoven’s Fourth Concerto. Praised by the New York Times for the ‘passion and poetry’ of his playing, these are qualities Tyson is sure to bring to the work. Though Glinka’s opera Ruslan and Ludmilla is rarely heard outside Russia, its thrilling overture is one of the most popular concert-starters of them all.

Pre-concert talk: Jamie Phillips in conversation about tonight’s season finalé and next season highlights.

LA TRAVIATA – ONE OF THE GREATEST VERDI OPERAS(Sung in italian with English Subtitles)

Featuring an impressive cast and accompanied by a large live Orchestra with over 30 musicians.

Following the enthusiastic reception which greeted the performance of Rigoletto opera earlier this year, the renowned Russian State Ballet and Opera House is back with another world-class opera, La Traviata - a love story shrouded in sacrifice and misunderstanding.

This haunting tragedy with its beautiful arias will transport you to the world in which it is set. Giuseppe Verdi brings to the stage the incomparable splendour of mid-19th century Parisian life in all its gaiety, sadness and pathos with a tragic and resonant tale of society and morality in which Violetta, a high-society courtesan with a heart of gold, sacrifices everything for the man she loves. Masterpiece in its own right, it contains some of Verdi’s most beautiful and memorable music.

It encompasses an astonishing range of moods and emotions, from Alfredo’s fresh-faced charms to Violetta’s vivid effervescence, perfectly captured in Violetta’s Toast to life and free will “Libiamo ne’ licit calici” (let’s drink from the joyful cups) and “Sempre libera” (always free) - a vocal showpiece to rival any other.

A deeply moving opera filled with human feeling and strokes of genius.

To see this opera is to have an experience of unforgettable emotive power and reflection.

Academy Award® nominee Ralph Fiennes (The English Patient, Schindler’s List; Oedipus at the National Theatre) plays Jack Tanner in this exhilarating reinvention of Shaw’s witty, provocative classic.

A romantic comedy, an epic fairytale, a fi ery philosophical debate, Man and Superman asks fundamental questions about how we live.

Jack Tanner, celebrated radical thinker and rich bachelor, seems an unlikely choice as guardian to the alluring heiress, Ann. But she takes it in her

assured stride and, despite the love of a poet, she decides to marry and tame this dazzling revolutionary.

Tanner, appalled by the whiff of domesticity, is tipped off by his chauff eur and fl ees to Spain, where he is captured by bandits and meets The Devil. An extraordinary dream-debate, heaven versus hell, ensues. Following in hot pursuit, Ann is there when Tanner awakes, as fi erce in her certainty as he is in his.

BAFTA winner and Academy Award® nominee Chiwetel Ejiofor (12 Years a Slave) takes the title role in this dynamic new production of one of English drama’s oldest plays, directed by the National Theatre’s new Director Rufus Norris (Broken, London Road).

Everyman is successful, popular and riding high when Death comes calling. He is forced to abandon the life he has built and embark on a last, frantic search to recruit a friend,

anyone, to speak in his defence. But Death is close behind, and time is running out.

One of the great primal, spiritual myths, Everyman asks whether it is only in death that we can understand our lives. A cornerstone of English drama since the 15th century, it now explodes onto the stage in a startling production with words by Carol Ann Duff y, Poet Laureate, and movement by Javier De Frutos.

DIG IT

Mike Harding’s resume reads folk singer and songwriter, poet and playwright, comedian and broadcaster, fell-walker and fl y-fi sherman. Now with four published anthologies to his credit, Mike has decided to take his poetry on a tour. As well as reading his work, he’ll be telling the personal stories that prompted him to write them.

It’s perhaps not what a legion of his fans are used to but we can guarantee it will be a good night as well as rare chance to see “The Other Side of Mike Harding.”

The ‘Last Choir Singing’ is a Lancashire-wide choir competition for junior school children, which True Bearing Chartered Financial Planners is organising and sponsoring in partnership with the Music Services in Lancashire, Blackpool and Blackburn with Darwen.

All the schools taking part in this competition will have won their Regional Heat and have made it through to the County Final, so the quality is high.

Our expert adjudicators will mark the choirs and the winning choir will be chosen tonight! This is an event not to be missed and is an excellent opportunity to support your local schools and to see how music education is thriving in Lancashire.

A rock and pop extravaganza performed by the talented students of Elite School of Music, under the direction of Paul Stuart Davies and Mark Bateson.

Suitable for all ages. All Under 16s must be accompanied by an adult.
