Wastewater Treatment Plant Operations
The wastewater treatment plant processed an average of 2.11 million gallons of influent per day (MGD). The Treatment Plant remains in compliance with the Florida Department of Environmental Protection (FDEP) guidelines.
Effluent Quality Reports (mg/L) Determines the quality of discharge from the wastewater treatment plant.
Current Flow (MGD) The total flow of influent through the wastewater treatment plant each day.

Daily Peak Salinity (PPT) The daily peak salinity for the current month.

Wastewater Field Operations There was a total of 35 service calls for the current month. Of these, 15 were system generated alarms, mostly by low vacuum detection at a vacuum station. The system generated alarms were addressed quickly by the field staff. The reports below detail the remaining 20 calls.

July 3 146 Long Key Rd.
Customer reported an odor coming from the sink and that their tub
was not draining.
Crew noticed that the clean-out was under pressure and
the pit was overwhelmed. Pit was cleared and diagnosed to
have a bad hose and dirty surge. Components were
changed. Pit back in working conditions after simulation.

A pedestrian reported that the cleanout box
was pushed up by sewage.
The home is on a private system. The problem was
caused by a loose fitting on the homeowner’s side,
behind the cleanout box.

July 10 21 North Blackwater Ln.
Customer reported sewage coming from
the pit.
On arrival there was sewage coming from the pit. Breather
was pulled, the hoses were found to be rotted. Hose was changed and surge cleaned.
Pit was simulated and back in working condition.

July 12 811 Ocean Ave. Plumber reported that
the pit was not working.
Pit was overwhelmed due to a rusted tube in the breather
and a dirty surge. Components were changed.

Homeowner reported that their grinder
pump was not working.
On arrival, the pump was not working. Pump was replaced

July 21 15 Mockingbird Rd.
Homeowner reported that they noticed odor
coming from Vac Station A for a few
days.
7/27 - Crews changed the carbon. 7/28 - Iron sponge media was removed and
replaced with carbon. The job was completed in two days to
take precaution with employee safety.

July 22 325 Calusa St. Unit 402
Customer reported a strong order coming
from the air terminal.
No odor was detected on arrival. As a precaution, crew
removed the breather and poured zep in sump.

July 23 181 South Ocean Shores Dr.
Homeowner called and stated there was
sewage coming from brown breather.
No mess was inside residence. Vactron was on sight to clean
up spillage on the road. Pit was found overwhelmed. Crew found that the valve
went bad causing pit to back up. Valve was changed and pit was simulated pit was back in
working conditions.

Customer reported that the toilets were
emptying.
Pit was working properly. Not a KLWTD issue. No
July 23 230 Palm Dr. Customer reported a strong odor coming
from the air terminal.
A slight odor and a little grease build up were
detected. Zep was poured into sump to help with grease
smell.

July 23 100460 Overseas Hwy.
Customer reported a blockage in the street.
Issue was caused by a broken controller clip. Clip was
replaced and pit discharged by itself. Pit was manually discharged a few times.
Blockage cleared.

Customer reported a backup and that their
sinks were draining slowly.
System tech found there to be no vacuum at the pit, or at a pit down the street. Street valves were all found to be
open. The main valve at vacuum station JK was left
closed. The valve was opened to bring up the vacuum. The
tech was then able to discharge the pits.

July 26 23 Bonefish Ave. Homeowner reported an issue with her toilet
flushing.
Pit was found in working condition with no sign of a
backup in the cleanout. There was only an issue in one
upstairs bathroom. Homeowner was notified that the backup was on their side.

July 26 92680 Overseas Hwy.
Homeowner reported that the alarm on
grinder pump was on.
The grinder pump was simulated and found to be
functioning normal. No
July 27 92510 Overseas Hwy.
Customer reported that their shower and
toilets were not draining.
The home is connected to a District owned grinder pump
in the Unique Program. A contractor performing work at the house left the braker
off, which disconnected power to the pump. Power
was restored, and pump resumed normal operations.

July 31 12 Mockingbird Rd. Homeowner reported a fire alarm activated at Vacuum Station A.
Smoke was detected in the building. The issue was
caused by a broken oil cap that allowed hot oil to blow on the exhaust. A new cap
was installed. No damage was caused.

The pit was overwhelmed due to a bad surge. Surge was
replaced, pit was simulated and back in working
condition.

Maintenance
SBR air diffuser pole repair The SBR air diffusers are mounted on racks submerged in the tanks. These racks are periodically lifted for inspection, cleaning, and maintenance. One of the poles that the winch and pulley system mounts to was damaged. The pole was removed, repaired, and reassembled.

Chlorine pump skid plumbing leak A section of the chlorine pump skid piping had a small leak. The damaged section of piping was replaced and tested.

Disk filter air conditioner unit repair A new air conditioning unit was installed on one of the disk filter control panels to replace a unit that stopped
cooling.

Dump truck evaporator coil repair A new AC evaporator coil was installed in the dump truck. A small leak was found in the old coil.
