ASSOCIATION OF MECHANICAL ENGINEERING AND METALWORKING INDUSTRIES OF LATVIA
MASOC (Association of Mechanical Engineering and Metalworking Industries of Latvia) was established in 1994 as an informative and consultative centre for mechanical engineering industry. Our mission is to represent the interests of our member companies, initiate and implement joint projects and activities with the main objective of developing international competitiveness of the member companies and sector in general.
MEMBERS
Today MASOC unites over 150 leading companies specialised in various branches of metal processing and mechanical engineering. Member companies produce about 80% of the sector output. Besides manufacturing companies, service providers and related companies are also among the members, covering the whole value creation chain. Close co-operation is ensured with professional and higher education establishments, research institutes and municipalities.
ACTIVITIES
The main activities of the association include:
• Representation of members’ interests at national and international level
• Networking and development of commercial collaboration among

• Maintaining of the database on technological capabilities and competences of the member companies
• Marketing, internationalisation and export promotion activities
• Co-operation with education and research institutions
• Further education and skills development projects
• International co-operation with similar organisations in other countries.

The main products and services offered by our companies include:

• Manufacture of basic metals – steel bars, iron and non-ferrous alloys
• Welded steel structures for construction
• Heating systems, solutions for renewable energy, cogeneration projects
• Equipment and machinery for ports, agriculture, food processing, woodworking, forestry and wide range of other industries
• Electrical equipment and machinery
• Wide range of technological equipment – vacuum coating equipment, hydraulic loaders, cylinders, rotators, lubrication stations, brakes, driving chains, etc.

SUBCONTRACTING
Many of the companies in the sector are involved in subcontracting activities. Altogether the member companies cover the whole spectrum of metal processing technologies making it possible to produce parts and components of any level of complexity. MASOC constantly maintains a database of technological capabilities of the member companies making it possible to find the right supplier both for local and foreign partners.
