Opinion | Bahrain Confidential | November 09 44 I “You know you can do better in life; you’re simply looking for thoughts, tips and possibly directions on how to get there.” Kevin Abdulrahman ’m often known to disrupt the thoughts of people for being straightforward with what I say, but the reality is I would rather hurt your feelings and tell you the truth than sugar coat it. I would rather you learn from what I have to impart rather than take 30 years of your precious life experience to figure it out. I would rather be able to coach you through the process than be a friend who pats you on the back and say it’s ok, when it may not be the case. So what I’m going to say next will almost certainly astound you. It will shock you. For some it will be a source of disappointment, with a few of you becoming even upset. I hope amongst what ever emotions you get, that this reality inspires you. This truth that may leave you sleepless tonight, twisting and turning in bed thinking about the one statement I’m about to make: “You know that you can do better in life.” You know this! If you didn’t really believe in that, you would not be reading this article. You know you can do better in life; you’re simply looking for thoughts, tips and possibly directions on how to get there. This is how the whole concept of complaining even works. You know that you could be a better person. You know you can do better in your professional life. You know that you can live an amazingly full personal life. You know what your best is, and yet you’re not being it. That’s the whole reason why you’d complain in the first place. Think about it. If you already lived the best you could possibly be, then you couldn’t complain, because you wouldn’t have anything better to compare it with. The reason you complain is because you are comparing where you are with where you could and in fact should be. An example I use is ordering a cup of latte in a café. The only reason I would ever ask for it to be replaced is because I know it can be made better. If I didn’t then I would happily accept the latte for how it was served. You are where you are because you deserve it. Yes you deserve where you are, because you are currently living a result. A result that is stemmed from your current beliefs you hold, the thoughts you have, the decisions you make and the actions you take. For things to change you must change the underlying factors, starting with your beliefs, which will affect your thoughts, which in turn will help you make better decisions that will then need to be backed up with action. For example, reading this article is a good start to wake up, change and do things differently now that I’ve told you that you know there is more in you. Next time you find yourself complaining, take a few minutes to think about whether the actions you are taking, are in all honesty leading you to achieve the results you want? Because they certainly are leading you to the current results and if you aren’t happy with them, then you have to make some changes now. Ask yourself, what actions do you need to take to get the results you want? All you have to do is simply do the actions that will give you your ultimate results and you will notice yourself complaining less often. Consistently working towards what you want will in turn, lead you to having the life you truly want and deserve. You know what you need to do, what are you waiting for? ’m often known to disrupt the thoughts of people for being straightforward with what I say, but the reality is I would rather hurt your feelings and tell you the truth than sugar coat it. I would rather you learn from what I have to impart rather than take 30 years of your precious life experience

to fi gure it out. I would rather be able to coach you through the process than be a friend who pats you on the back and say it’s ok, when it may not be the case.

So what I’m going to say next will almost certainly astound you. It will shock you. For

some it will be a source of disappointment, with a few of you becoming even upset. I hope amongst what ever emotions you get, that this reality inspires you. This truth that may leave you sleepless tonight, twisting and turning in bed thinking about the one statement I’m about to make: “You know that you can do better in life.”You know this!

That’s the whole reason why you’d complain in the fi rst place.

Next time you fi nd yourself complaining, take a few minutes to think about whether the actions you are taking, are in all honesty leading you to achieve the results you want? Because they certainly are leading you to the current results and if you aren’t happy with them, then you have to make some changes now.

Ask yourself, what actions do you need to take to get the results you want? All you have to do is simply do the actions that will give you your ultimate results and you will notice yourself complaining less often. Consistently working towards what you want will in turn, lead you to having the life you truly want and deserve.

You know what you need to do, what are you waiting for? ■
