November 6th from 9 a.m. until everything is sold!

Our 3rd Annual Coat Drive will also take place at the meeting. Please bring any jackets or coats you no longer

use for donation to the Salvation Army.

Horse Judging

The Horse Judging team will meet on Wednes-days at 7 p.m. in the upstairs office of the Wool

Room. They will practice the following dates this month:

November 3rd, 17th, & 24th.

REMINDER: The District contest will be held in conjunction with the SALE competition. These entries must

be completed with other major stock show entries on Tuesday, November 9th from 9-6.

Photography

This project will hold its first meeting on Thursday, November 18th from 6-7 p.m. This will be an

informational/planning meeting. Meeting dates & times will be discussed, so parents please make

plans to attend.

This meeting will also cover topics/techniques that will be discussed throughout the project as well

as, resources/software that is available to those interested.

National 4H Conference: What is it? The National 4-H Conference is the Secretary of Agriculture’s premier youth development opportunity to engage youth in developing recommendations for the 4-H Youth Development Program.

Dates and Location: April 2-7, 2011 at the National 4-H Youth Conference Center located in Maryland, one mile from the Nation’s Capital

Who Should Apply: Minimum Age Requirement for a Texas Youth delegate is 15 years old by January 1, 2011. The maximum age is 18. The Texas delegation will consist of 10 youth delegates.

Application Process: Applications must be submitted online and certified through 4HCONNECT by November 13, 2010. Final Selections will be announced on or before December 6, 2010.

Cost: $1500.00 due on January 5, 2011

This training will cover the application process & deadlines. It is open to all Junior & Senior High

School students that are interested in applying for a 4-H Foundation Scholarship.

2010 San Antonio Livestock Exposition, Inc. Rural Youth Award

The Texas 4-H & Youth Development Program in conjunction with the Texas 4-H Youth Development Foundation are pleased to announce the continued support from the San Antonio Livestock Exposition for the 2011 Rural Youth Awards. There will be 20—$1,000 awards awarded for the 2011 year.

Applications will be available toward the end of November and will be due in March and then reviewed & selected by the scholarship committee in April.

Eligibility Requirements:

• Must be at least & a high school Jr. or Sr.

• Must have been active in 4-H for the past 3 yrs.

• Must be willing to participate in the 2011 SALE Youth Day.

• Must plan to attend a Texas college with a SALE eligible major

• Must be a TX resident & US citizen

If you are needing assistance at any time during the year with your animal project,

please call the Extension Office. Whether you have a question about feeding, vaccinations, weights, etc. we are here to help. If you would like to schedule a time for Roy Walston to

come out & take a look at your project, call the Extension Office to set up a date & time for

Roy to come out.

Major Stock Show Entry Day

This years Major Stock Show Entry event will be an all day event. It will be Come & Go whenever you can make it on Tuesday, November 9th. We will start accepting entries at 9 a.m. and will end the event at

6 p.m. We will do it all from the Extension Office.

Please come prepared will all exhibitors birthdates & social security numbers. These are needed on all entry forms & this

information is not kept from year to year in the Extension Office. There will be a notary on site for those that are planning to attend

the Houston Livestock Show.

Payment for all entries will also be due at this time. We can accept Check or Cash for your entries.
