Your President and First Lady, Artie and Pam Martin will be host-ing the Derby Reunion Rally this Spring at the Kentucky Horse Park. Kentucky Horse Park is a working horse farm and an educational park located off Kentucky State Highway 1973 (Iron Works Pike) and Interstate 75. The facility is a 1,224-acre park dedicated to "man's relationship with the horse." The Park has a twice daily Parade of Breeds, showcasing both common and rare horses from across the globe. The horses are ridden in authentic costume. Each year the park is host to a number of special events and horse shows. Beginning with the 1979 arrival of Forego, one of the leading handicap horses of the 1970s, the Kentucky Horse Park has been a retirement home for some of the world's great-est competition horses. The status of the park as a retirement center was further established with the 1985 arrival of John Henry, Horse of the Decade for the 1980s and the top money win-ning thoroughbred gelding in racing history. With the exception of a few months in 1986, John Henry lived at the park until his death in 2007, alongside other racing greats such as Forego and his fellow 1970s champion Bold Forbes, and current residents Cigar, voted Horse of the Decade for the 1990s, and Da Hoss, the first of only two thoroughbreds to win Breeders’ Cup races in non-consecutive years. In late 2008, the champions Alysheba and Funny Cide became residents, but Alysheba died at the park in March 2009. Campground Information: The Kentucky Horse Park Campground has 260 campsites with electrical and water hookups, paved pads, fire rings, and picnic tables. A full-service facility, the campground has a grocery store and gift shop, two bathhouses with modern conveniences, laundromats, and two dump stations. Planned recreational activities, lighted tennis and basketball courts, a swimming pool, playgrounds, games of horseshoes and croquet, and square-dancing in the recreation pavilion are just a few of the recreation choices. Several rental facilities including a group pavilion and a lounge are available for group events. Nearby Activities: • Keeneland Racecourse • Georgetown, Ky antique district • Tour one of the horse farms • Visit a distillery • Enjoy the shops of downtown Lexington • Visit the University of Kentucky

The story behind The Good Sam Club is 4 decades in the making. The Club takes its name from the term "Good Samaritan" and came to life in 1966 when cartoonist E.C. Bilsland Jr. sketched a dark-haired character with a broad smile and a halo to personify the spirit of Good Samaritan RVers. A group of RVers began placing a Good Samaritan sticker on the bumper of their trailer while on the road to let fellow RV families know that they were there to help. This idea spread through RV parks and campgrounds across the US and Canada until the club de-veloped into what it is today. The goal remains the same as it did in 1966: to make RVing safer and more enjoyable, and save members money through Club-endorsed benefits and ser-vices. The Good Sam Club is now over 1 million RVing families strong and growing!, our Mem-bers have fun, stop to help one another and meet our responsibilities to the environment, highways and parks.

Three nights of camping, meals, and entertainment plus many vendors, all for $80!

Due to scheduling conflicts, the 127 Rally will happen this year without the 127 Yard Sale! Oops!

I found out too late that the 127 Yard Sale is scheduled for August 7-10, 2014, which conflicts with the Race Rally. Sorry for any inconveniences this may cause!

We still intend to have a great time at the Bishop’s Ranch! And we will

schedule some new activities for an exciting great time!

We will have lots of fun camping with the Southern IN unit and watching our very own Todd Kempf finish first! For over 65 years Salem Speedway has enjoyed the recognition of being one of the most unique and renowned race tracks in America. The.555-mile oval that features imposing 33-degree banks was built strictly for speed. High powered sprint cars accelerate down the straights at speeds reaching nearly 140 miles per hour. Salem is a track steeped in history with many of the giants in auto racing having competed on the treacherous “hills” at some point in their careers. Names such as Ruttman, Carter, Sweikert, O’Connor, Jones, Foyt, Un-ser, Andretti, Vogler, Allison, Parsons, and Waltrip just to name a few, grace the list of past winners. THE GREYHOUND TAVERN 2500 DIXIE HIGHWAY, FORT MITCHELL, KY 41017 HISTORY - ABOUT THE TAVERN:

The Greyhound Tavern (originally the Dixie Tea Room) was

built in 1921. The two original rooms are still occupied today and are referred to as

the "Tavern Room" and the "Hunt Room." Johnny Hauer was the first owner and op-

erated the Dixie Tea Room as an ice cream parlor, and sold other notions of various

assortments. The Dixie Tea Room was conveniently located at the "End of the Line"

where streetcars completed their journey south, make the big turn, and headed back

to Cincinnati. In the '30s, Al Frisch purchased the business and renamed it The Grey-

hound Grill in honor of his brother Benny, who was a successful greyhound dog

trainer in Florida. Al's sister Irene and mother Mary did the cooking, which included

homemade ice cream, soups, and their famous "Chicken" and "Jack Salmon" setups,

which sold for 50 cents. The ice cream parlor was eventually eliminated, the bar re-

located to its present location, and a beer garden with a lively juke box added for

guests' entertainment. Along with these changes, emerged the "world-famous" onion

rings, juicy burgers, and double-deckers for diners' enjoyment. Most recently, the

Grill has become the "Tavern" with many changes, not only to the building, but to

the menu as well. Today, the Greyhound Tavern is still well known for its traditional

favorites, but it has also become a prime spot for chops, steaks, seafood, and other

specialties prepared by the chef and his staff. Truly, the Greyhound Tavern is a Fort

Mitchell landmark! Come and enjoy your visit with us, and please feel free to browse

around to see what has happened during the last century!

Check their menu out at www.greyhoundtavern.com

Directions:

Exit 186 off of I-75. Turn east on Buttermilk Pike, which will dead end into Dixie

Highway. Make a left on Dixie Highway and the restaurant will be on immediate left.
