Meeting called to order at 2:00 PM Eastern Standard Time.Sheriff Korzenborn called role. Sheriff’s absent: Sheriff Cain, Sheriff Dills, Sheriff Root, Sheriff Leavell, and Sheriff Folger. Sheriff Korzenborn certified a quorum.

Motion was made by Sheriff Peoples and seconded by Sheriff Boggs to excuse the absent board members. Motion was approved unanimously.

MINUTES OF PRIOR MEETING

A motion to approve the Minutes from January 27, 2016 made by Sheriff Boggs and seconded by Sheriff Hampton to approve the minutes of the prior meeting as written. Motion was approved unanimously.

PRESIDENT AGENDA

Sheriff Gaines address the board, Sheriff Gaines stated he has been diagnosed with Colon Cancer and will undergo surgery in March at Vanderbilt University. Sheriff Gaines stated he never had a colonoscopy until just recently, it detected the cancer. He suggested that everyone needs to have this done. Please keep me in your prayers.

A thank you card was received by KSA from Ouida Anthony.

Please get your fund raising events scheduled for ranch and your calendar completed.

NSA Conference Minneapolis MN. 24-29 2016Contract Corky Wagner for rooms at NSA by March 23.

Motion to approve Sheriff’s Boys and Girls Ranch January 16 Financial Report. Motion Sheriff Young 2nd Sheriff Matthews All I’s Apposed – None

Fund Raiser-The KSA has purchased a John Deer gator for a fund raiser. The winner can either take the gator or $10,000 cash. Each Sheriffs Office will get 25 tickets and the cost will be $10.00 a ticket. If you have an event you would like to have the gator at, please contact the ranch as soon as possible.

Auditor-A meeting was held with the auditor in reference to, Sheriffs entering into contracts, and fees added onto tax bills by governing bodies. A bill will be introduced to fix language in KRS.

Union County Sheriff contacted by Superintendent to cut school commission from 4% to 1.5%

NSA-is going through some lean times financially and will be looking at future conferences

Retired Jefferson County Sheriff Joe Greene has passed away.

NSA mid Winter Conference USAG Lynn spoke to the group about the asset foreiture being swept. It is USAG attention to start paying agencies as soon as possible to agencies owed money.

USAG Lynn also looking at 1033 program to get some of the mis information that was put out corrected.

NEW BUSINESS

The KSA Site committee met to discuss the 2017& 2018 Conference site.The KSA received bids from NKY, Louisville, and Bowling Green. The NKY bid was higher then the Louisville and Bowling Green bid. The site committee choose to have 2017 conference in Bowling Green and 2018 in Louisville.
