KENTUCKY KINGDOM GARDENS Kentucky Kingdom Gardens is the realization of President and CEO Ed Hart’s vision of offering an extra dimension to the theme park experience. Of course, that experience is centered around the rides and water attractions at Kentucky Kingdom, but the park’s beautiful and well designed landscaping is a key part of its appeal – and Kentucky Kingdom Gardens adds a unique educational element for its guests to enjoy. Throughout the park, guests will see more than 20 cultivars of colorful annuals, more than 100 different species of perennials and ornamental grasses, and many specimen coniferous and deciduous trees. Among the park’s many gardens are the English Garden in the Carousel Courtyard, the lushly landscaped slopes at the Tin Lizzies ride, the colorful flower beds in King Louie’s Playland, and the butterfly garden - a certified Monarch Waystation - at the exit of T3. Kentucky Kingdom is proud to be among the botanical gardens across North America that have planted gardens geared to provide sustenance for Monarch butterflies. In 2016, Kentucky Kingdom implemented a labeling system with QR Codes that guests can scan with their cell phones to obtain detailed information and photos of various plants, trees, and grasses throughout the park. Guests will be able to get more information about a particular plant or tree and determine if it’s right for their own yard or garden just by scanning the code. All of the landscaping design, installation, and maintenance at the park is performed by Kentucky Kingdom’s own horticulture department, which includes a full-time staff of seasoned experts, including degreed horticulturalists, certified arborists, and Kentucky certified nurserymen. The park even has its own greenhouses! Kentucky Kingdom Gardens is a member of the Kentucky Nursery & Landscape Association.
