WHY IS THIS PRESENTATION IMPORTANT?
Deteriorated paint is a major source of lead in dust. This dust can be ingested by children and other at risk groups, and can poison them.
Identifying and eliminating deteriorated paint helps to reduce the risk that lead poses to children. The Kentucky Lead Based Paint Law, KRS 211.905, controls the abatement of deteriorated paint.

•When notified that an occupant of a dwelling or dwelling unit is found to have an elevated blood level, an authorized representative of the cabinet shall inspect the dwelling or dwelling unit, at reasonable times, for the purpose of ascertaining the existence of lead based substances. Such a representative may remove samples necessary for laboratory analysis, in the determination of the presence of lead based substances in designated dwelling or dwelling unit.
