Ashford Leisure Trust would like to invite your school to compete in the 2015 Kent Junior Schools Cross Country Championships which will be held at

the Kent showground in Detling, Kent.

The Course

The course is mainly grass and pathway. Suitable for spikes or studs

Year 3/4 Boys and Girls Races 800m –1 Lap Year 5/6 Boys and Girls Races 1600m – 2 Laps

Spectators

Spectators should stay behind the roped off and taped areas at all times. Any adult found to be running with or pacing competitors will result in that competitor being disqualified. The ‘official hares’ are expected to run from the front.

Refreshments and catering will be available to purchase at the event. DE Photos will be our official event photographer and photos of runners will be available to buy on the day of the event. Podplus Sports shop and Injury Clinic will also have a stand at the event.

Every child will receive a certificate to say they have competed in these championships.

New for 2015!!

Each athlete will be allocated a timing chip which will record their finishing position and race time. There will also be ‘Live online results’ on the day. It will be the responsibility of each school to ensure all timing chips are returned to the event organisers at the end of the competition. Failure to return the timing chips at the end of the event will incur a fee of £50 per item.

Race Entry Fees

The race entry fees for this event have been set to cover the cost of the transponder timing system.£6 per team of 4 runners (maximum of 32 runners)or £2 per individual runner (maximum of 32 runners)

Schools can enter up to a maximum of 32 runners or 8 teams of up to 4 runners spread across the 8 races. Teams must be made up with children from the same age group and gender i.e. 4 year 3 boys or 4 year 5 girls. Schools can enter more than one team in any age group as long as they don’t exceed the limit of 32 runners. Schools can also enter individual athletes into each race if they do not have enough runners to make up a full team. Medals & goodies will be presented to the 1st, 2nd and 3rd individuals in each race and the first 3 teams in each race.

The team score will be your first four competitors to cross the finishing line.

Photographic Permission

I am /am not willing (delete where appropriate) for my school to be used in any

photographic promotional material stemming from the event-this includes the

photographs of our pupils however I confirm that we have parental authorisation

for any pictures to be used purely for media / promotional purposes.

Medical Paperwork

I am aware that our pupils are the responsibility of the school teacher in charge

and/or their parents during the duration of the event and that all relevant medical

consent paperwork used by our school is in place. I will also ensure that the event

details including parent notes are distributed to our parents before the event.
