October 2011 NEWSLETTER 8th Edition

Welcome once again to our 8th edition of the Tournament Water Ski Australia Newsletter, our

season has just commenced here in Australia, however many exciting events took place over the

winter months, here and overseas as you will read in this current edition of the TWSA Newsletter!

KENNY WATERSPORTS

DARWIN SKI SCHOOL ANOTHER SUCCESS!

Tournament Water Ski Australia held its second Australian ski school in sunny Darwin during July

where the temperature was a consistent 30+ degrees, while most of the country had to endure

freezing weather. The ski school was represented by 33 students from six Australian States and

Territories, all receiving quality coaching from two of Australia’s elite coaches Jason Stone and

Bruce Cockburn.

SUNDAY, RELAXING AT THE LOCAL WATERFALLS

DARWIN SKI SCHOOL UPDATE CONTINUED....

During the two weeks we were spoilt with first class meals, perfect water and temperature

conditions which all culminated into great skiing with all students achieving their goals. Two of

the most outstanding students Amy Wheeler and Brianna McGrady each received a $500 ski

merchandise package, kindly donated by Kenny Water Sports.

PAINFUL LEGWAXING, TYCE LOSES BET TO GIRLS!

During the week we treated everyone to a trip on the Adelaide River to see the jumping crocodiles

in action and a night out in Darwin for dinner at the Ski Club overlooking the beach followed by a

trip to the famous Mindil night markets and on the weekend we conducted a Come & Try day

followed by a Slalom Tournament for the locals with 28 skiers attending. Antoinette and I would

sincerely like to thank our coaches Jason & Bruce and also our adult crew of Leanne Collicoat, Dan

& Trish McGrady , Marty Purcell and Josie Christie who all contributed in making this one of the

best ski schools in the country.

AT THE CONCLUSION OF THE TWO WEEK SKI SCHOOL THE KIDS HAVE A MUCK UP!

Australia Narrowly Misses Out on Bronze Medal!

Our Australian Team of Ryan Green, Michale Briant, Karina Nowlan, Timothy Bradstreet, Jacinta

Carroll and Cathryn Humphrey did Australia proud at the recent World Championships where 37

countries competed on the Volga River in Dubna Russia. Our Team was beaten by the USA in the

nail crunching final by only 31 points, giving the US a Bronze medal and Australia a very respectful

fourth. Congratulations must go to our two young stars Jacinta Carroll and Timothy Bradstreet

who both earned the respect of the World with silver medals in the Jump event. Tim gave all his

competitors something to think about when he went out in the final and jumped 67.5meters on

the 1.65 ramp and it was only Freddy Krueger the master and multiple World Champion that was

able to pip Tim for the Gold medal on the 1.8 meter ramp with a jump of 69.5.Jacinta Carroll only

needed 0.5 centimetres to win gold narrowly missing out to Natalia Berdnikava but without doubt

Jacinta will have her day and will be crowned World Champion, watch this space!

After coming back from surgery our Team captain Ryan Green showed what a true champion he is

taking out the Overall Bronze Medal, in what was a magnificent performance! All our skiers placed

in the top 10 in one of their chosen disciplines with Ryan having two top 10 placements.

U21 World Team Hits Gold!

TEAM AUSSIE COLLECTS THREE GOLD MEDALS AT THE WORLD TITLES IN MEUZAC, FRANCE:

Timothy Bradstreet achieved two individual Gold Medals, one in Jump with another consistent

distance of 67.3 meters and the other in Overall, whilst Jacinta Carroll jumped an U21 World

Record distance of 54.6 meters to win Gold and a Silver Medal in Overall. Our other Team

Members of Joshua Briant and Nicholas Wrenn did an amazing job to help Australia win the Team

Bronze medal and only narrowly missing out on Silver by 4o points and Gold by 144 points.

With these Team members and others coming through the ranks Australia will be the Team to

watch in the future.
