My wife and I have lived at our present address for over 20 years, raising two daughters along with horses, cows and goats. Our daughters have since moved out, married, and now I have three grandchildren. One daughter is a teacher at Little Cypress Jr. High and the other is graduating from Lamar College with an A.A.S. in Process Operator Technology. Some of my hobbies include camping and riding horses, both on organized trail rides and blazing rough trails in the woods. Our previous address was at 1018 Cherokee Trail, in Orange, for 20+ years. Before that, I lived at my parents’ home at 1022 Oak Lane, Orange. After graduating from Little Cypress High School, I began working in a shipyard as an apprentice electrician. I completed my apprenticeship and continued working there for a total of six years. There I learned some of the many facets of the electrical trade, including but not limited to blue print reading, cable tray installation, cable installation, cable termination, equipment installation, equipment start up, trouble shooting and repair of existing systems. As the economy changed, I went out on construction. While working at a nuclear power house construction project, I gained further experience in the installation of cable trays, at conduit bending and conduit installation. Also high voltage cable termination. At a plastic manufacturing plant as a maintenance tech, while working an eight hour rotating shift, I learned trouble shooting of DC analog drives, complex control systems, high horsepower synchronous motor operation as well as day to day plant maintenance. More recently I was employed as a maintenance electrician by a plastic manufacturing plant in Orange, Texas, making plastic film for the food industry. While employed there, I was involved in planning, gathering specifications, designing, drafting in AutoCAD, estimating project cost, ordering parts, construction, start up and training of the operators, for various complex resin transfer and mixing systems. This involved DC variable speed analog and DC digital drives, AC variable frequency drives, designing and programming PLC’s implementing both analog and digital signals. I also attended many vendor training seminars that pertained to the trouble shooting and repair of vendor specific equipment. Some of that equipment consisted of High frequency static generators, beta gauging systems using a radioactive source, video inspection systems using high speed cameras used for finding holes and defects in film sheets, DCS control systems used to heat and control DC motor driven plastics extruders and DC and AC control technologies used for winding films onto cores. I am accustomed to both working with my tools as a mechanic/technician with others as a team and as a stand-alone tech-mechanic. I held the position as Foreman on my most recent job. I have also held the position and responsibilities of General Forman and Job Superintendent. I like to think of myself as a leader, a teacher and a student.

Good morning,

My name is Ken Johnson. I have lived most of my life in Orange, Texas.

My education consists of being a Little Cypress High Graduate, completing the Electrical Apprenticeship of four years, at least four hours of CE’s every year, Instrumentation Technician Level 2, numerous Allen Bradley PLC and related field training seminars, as well as various vendor training and continuing safety emphasis seminars.

I look forward to becoming part of your team.
