1. Solve the following.
a) Long boat travel 4 km in one hour. How long will they take to go
a distance of 10 km?
Ans:
One hour = 4 km
Two hour = 4 + 4 = 8 km
Half an hour = 4 ÷ 2 = 2 km
Two and half hour = 8 + 2 = 10 km
b) Motor boats travel faster, at the speed of about 20 km in one
hour. How far would the motor boats go in three and a half hour
Ans:
One hour = 20 km
Two hour = 20 + 20 = 40 km
Three hour = 20 + 20 + 20 = 60 km
Half an hour = 20 ÷2 = 10
Three and half hour = 60 + 10 = 70 kms.
c) The fish weighs 8 kg. Fazilla sell the whole for Rs. 1200. At what
price per kg did Fazilla sell the kingfish?
Ans:
Cost of 8 kg of fish = Rs.1200
Cost of one kg = 1200 ÷ 8
Cost of one kg = Rs. 150
d) Floramma has sold 10 kg of prawns today. How much money did
she get for that? (Cost of 1kg of prawns = 150)
Ans:
Cost of 1 kg of prawns = Rs. 150
Floramma sold = 10 kgs
Money earned by her = 10 x 150 = Rs. 1500
e) A boat covers 20 km in one hour. How long it will take to
cover 80 kms?
Ans:
1 hour = 20 km
2 hour = 20 km + 20 km = 40 km
3 hour = 20 km + 20 km + 20 km = 60 km
4 hour = 20 km + 20 km + 20 km + 20 km = 80
kms
f) A boat covers 5 km in one hour. How long it will take to
cover 15 kms?
1 hour = 5Km
2 hour = 5 km + 5 km = 10 km
3 hour = 5 km + 5 km + 5 km = 15 kms
g) A log boat travels 4 km /hr and it brings 20 kgs of fish in
one trip. How much fish a log boat brings in 10 trips.
Ans:
One trip = 20 kgs
10 trips = 20 x 10
