Principal’s Message
Spotlight: THE
CAMBRIDGE PROGRAM BY:NICOLE HERNANDEZ AND MARIAN RODRIGUEZ
We interviewed Mrs. Torres-Pino about the Cambridge Program at Kendale.
Q:Why did you think of bringing Cambridge into our school?
A:Thank you for thinking I brought it but I didn’t. It was presented to Mr.Fox and he accepted it.
Q:Now that we have Cambridge, are we going to have more activities?
A:The activities are left up to your teachers to implement. However, I am working with Mr.Fox in
coming up with some fantastic ideas.
Q:Do you think students are going to like Cambridge?
A: I absolutely know they will enjoy it! It comes with a hands-on learning approach, discovery
and inquiry learning, cross-curricular lessons, and many challenging, yet rewarding activities!
Q:What are one of the things you think teachers should be doing with Cambridge?
A:We are very fortunate to be part of a school with many excellent and dedicated teachers.
Cambridge is made up of several components that many of us have already been implement-
ing. One area teachers can continue or begin implementing is cross curricular instruction.

Welcome to Kendale Elementary’s November Newsletter.
As we begin the 2nd Nine Weeks, we are committed to
overcoming the challenges that we are faced with while
maintaining and exceeding the goals that we have set for
the 2014-2015 school year. As we enter the holiday
season, let’s pause and reflect on all that we are thankful
for. Personally, I am thankful for the overwhelming
support of parents and staff working together to create a
dynamic learning atmosphere. Let’s continue working
together to make our students dreams come alive!

His technique was such a suc-

Who is NAO? A NAO is a 58-cm tall humanoid robot. He is a small, cute, and round headed
robot. NAO is intended to be a friendly companion around the house. He moves, recognizes
you, hears, & even talks to you. His humanoid form and extreme interactivity makes him
really enduring and lovable.
NAO is a little character with a unique combination of hardware and software: consisting of
sensors, motors and the creators dedicated operating system. It gets its magic from its
programming and animation. NAO has 25 degrees of freedom for movement, 2 cameras to see
its surroundings, an inertial measuring unit which lets him know whether upright or sitting
down, touch sensors to detect your touch and 4 directional microphones so he can hear you
talk.

City, donating over one hundred costumes
to children with various exceptionalities.
