One of the great traditions that is commonly celebrated in churches all over is the “May Crowning.” This tradition usu- ally takes place at the beginning or end of a Mass and a crown is placed on an image of the Blessed Virgin Mary. I am a huge fan of this tradi- tion and love seeing the many ways in which people adorn Our Lady, with a beautiful crown, with bou- quets of flowers and all sorts of other ways to honor Mary. Mary is constantly interceding for us, going to the throne of God to ob- tain graces for us. She assists us in our struggles against sin. She seeks to protect us and draw us closer to her son. So, we give the month of May to Mary, to honor her for all that she does for us. Now I make a challenge to each of you this May, to find a way that you can honor Mary in a unique way this year. Maybe you and your family get together each evening with an image of Our Lady to pray a rosary. Maybe you set up a prayer space in a rather prominent part of your home and decorate it in such a way that really draws attention to Mary this month. Maybe you start St. Louis de Montfort’s prayer of con- secration to Mary. Or along a sim- ilar vein, the book called 33 Day to Morning Glory, which is another ap- proach to a Marian consecration. Whatever you choose to do to honor Mary this month, remember that it will help you grow in your love of God. The more we come to know who Mary is and fall in love with her and desire to imitate her, the more we realize that everything points to Jesus. Mary’s entire life was directed towards the will of God. She is the first, and perfect, disciple who shows us how to follow Jesus perfect- ly. By living a life full of prayer, full of charity, and always seeking to do the will of God. Most of you know me as your Knights of Columbus Field Agent but before that I’m a Brother Knight and as such I wanted to send you a quick note that reflects the posture of the Knights of Columbus and my own com-mitment to serve you and your family in these unprecedented times.

As a framework, I want to employ the five pillars that Supreme Knight Carl An-derson has pointed to as characteristics found in men who, in time of crisis, not only survive but lead.

First, we remain rooted in the truth of the faith. We pray for one another, for the sick and the dying, and for the Church and world. In this we remain true to Fr. McGivney’s vision of protecting families within the sure tracks of the Catholic faith.

Second, the Knights can be counted on to step into the breach. When disasters strike, the Knights are there with prayer and work, supporting first responders, providing shelter and assistance to those affected. This time is no different. Working together, we remain united and strong.

Third, a Knight stays at his post. I un-derstand that you have concerns about health, finances, job security, savings, re-tirement, and these have only increased in these days. I am here to help allay those concerns and to answer any questions you may have.

We are ready to suffer for the good. It has fallen to us agents and our Supreme Council leadership to roll up our sleeves and get to work so we can remain effective as we work remotely and maintain social distance. To that end, we are employing new technology that allows us to meet “virtually,” using a secure video conferenc-ing software. It allows us to see each other, and to share a screen that features forms and other graphics.

Finally, a Knight maintains humble confidence. My commitment to you, our members and families, remains steady and is built not primarily on my qualifications but on the strength of our Order, which has grown and strengthened over more than 135 years. Our Order is strong and our guarantees remain in place.

As always, I stand ready to help. If you or anyone you know is in need of assis-tance of any kind during these trying times, please feel free to contact me at (612) 310-5254.Dan Falstad, KofC Field Agent612)310-5254 [email protected]

District Deputy Report Brother Knights in Christ,

We Knights of Columbus must weather this corona-virus storm with our families, physically isolated from others out of Love and concern but not removed from God’s work. Recall that our sword is prayer, and our shield, good works informed by Faith. Both remain in reach for the good and faithful Knight.

Now is an excellent time to use the ro-sary you were given in your first degree and meditate on the mysteries of Christ’s life, death and resurrection for us. Now is an excellent time to invite your wife and children to pray it with you for relief from this pandemic and its many and varied stresses. We will get through this together, by the grace of our God who loves us.

All Grand Knights have been asked to help their Councils continue to meet and function, paying bills and planning for the time when this affliction will be past. It will pass, and we must then emerge with renewed vigor to serve our Priests, parishes and communities for the greater glory of God.

We must serve each other now. Do whatever our Pastor asks if humanly pos-sible. Meet needs where they are found. Start by contacting each and every Knight to ensure their welfare. Be Christ for each other where need is found. We must not wait for our brothers to ask for help.

It is certainly not weak to ask for help but we prefer to be self-sufficient. Consid-er that your brothers need to feel useful and will welcome any chance to help you. Consider that any request you make is ac-tually your gift to those hoping to serve the Lord in you and waiting for your call.

Our Order must continue to meet using new means – phone or video calls – but not in person. Be creative, be flexible and be safe. Stay in touch with your leadership and participate now more than ever.

Supreme asks us to support each other, support our parishes and our communi-ties. Give blood if we are able. Support CROSS and CEAP in their work feeding the hungry. Nurture the flame of faith in your heart and let its light shine in your actions.

In summary, pray, stay in touch with your pastor and each other and look for ways to serve. Continue to meet using technology. Listen for the voice of the Holy Spirit in your life and in your service. Be Knights of Columbus. Resist the urge to care only for ourselves and those closest to us. Go into the breach as men of God and service looking for Christ in others.Let Jesus live! Patrick Farrelly, District Deputy 52

CEAP food shelfThank you for the Knights of Columbus generous donation of $1000. You

answered the call of your neighbors, the call of your community and the call for help. Your donation means more than just emergency food for a neighbor, it means that even during a scary, unknown time, you are caring for your community and doing something courageous.

The presence and spread of COVID-19 has introduced an additional chal-lenge for our neighbors and for CEAP. This pandemic has led CEAP to pivot our strategy and find new, safe ways to do what we do best: provide assistance to our neighbors in an emergency. With your help, we've been able to make changes that keep our staff, volunteers, and participants safe while ensuring everyone still has access to nutritious food. Our food market has pivoted to provide CEAP Essential emergency boxes of food. These boxes are 75 lbs. of food for an individual and 95 lbs. for a family; they contain fresh fruits and vegetables, dairy, deli, lean protein, grains, and shelf stable food. And are enough to feed participants for 2 weeks, and are picked up curbside. The box-es are beautiful, see attacked picture. If anyone is in need of our food market, call 763-450-3600 to make a same day appointment.

Besides curbside pickup of food we are delivering frozen meals on wheels. Every other week we are delivering 1600 frozen meals to the most isolated and vulnerable population in our community. TODAY we had volunteers delivering this food and has brought up our total meals delivered to 3800. Be-sides receiving frozen meals every day, our staff call each senior daily to check in to ensure they don’t have any questions on how to cook the frozen meals and make sure they are safe and healthy.

This is a hard time, but it is made better because the community stepping up and supporting each other. Please pass along our appreciation to your members!
