In this newsletter I am covering two of my favorite topics in my case presenta-tions: cosmetic anterior implants and gingival grafting.

Dr. William B. Wynn, IV
Case 1: A patient came in for gingival grafting. The pa-tient’s orthodontist referred him for grafting, prior to him beginning orthodontic treatment. The patient had signifi-cant gingival recession and mucogingival defects on tooth #’s 5 and #6. A sub-epithelial connective tissue graft was performed utilizing Perioderm donor tissue. One hundred percent root coverage was obtained, and the patient also has much thicker and robust tissue in the area. Post graft-ing, the patient began his orthodontic treatment.
Case 2: A patient came in for a dental implant on the lower arch. Several years ago we had placed an implant in the #8 area. Tooth #8 had broken off at the gum line in the past, and was non restorable. The tooth was also showing some signs of root resorption. An immediate implant was placed. The implant has been restored for several years now. As you can see we have a very stable and cosmetic result. If you look closely, the gingiva looks even pinker and healthier on the implant compared to the natural teeth adjacent to it. The gingival margins are also very even, and there are nice papilla on the mesial and distal of the #8 implant.
