Keepsake Quilters Guild SCRAPS FROM THE KQ GUILD PRESIDENT SUE PLAGGE Greetings all! Well I think we can officially say it is fall! What a difference a week makes. The beauty of living in Iowa is that we get to experience all four seasons. I have a feeling fall is going to be a short one this year. (I’m still hoping for Indian summer!) I have been in a few quilt shops the last few weeks and the fall fabrics are beautiful. I want to give you a heads up that at the November meeting we will be passing the basket to help the church with their Christmas Adopt a Family Program. Remember the church does not charge us a rental fee, so this is our way of showing our appreciation to them. If you want to be in the drawing for the Quilts to Share string block challenge, you need to turn in your blocks at the October meeting. “Tips, Tricks and Techniques from the President” When attending a class or retreat pre-wind several bobbins so you are ready to sew for hours (or days)! To help avoid mistakes down the line, always read through all the instructions for your pattern before you begin. Oh by the way… We are still looking for someone or co-chairs to head the Quilt Show. QUILT TO SHARE Olly, Olly, Oxen free a phrase from childhood games. October is the last month for your strip blocks to count for the November drawing. Please bring them to the meeting to receive credit. Also volunteer hours drawing will be in November.” Quilts to Share Work Days are held each Monday of the month, except the third Monday, from 9am to 3 pm. Stop in to work with others on QTS projects for all or part of the day. Sewing machines and all supplies are available. Nothing to prepare, no machine to drag around, just come. Please bring a sack lunch if you are planning to be there at noon. If you are unable to come on QTS work days and need kits, fabric to launder, or quilts to quilt on your own, just give me a call.
