Keeping the HABIT Homecoming traditions stay strong

The annual week of Homecoming festivities had finallyarrived, after much anticipation from both past and

new students. With the massive list of activities plannedout for the week, many were repeats from previous years, adding to the list of traditions for Bennington. Along with shopping for fancy heels and glamorousdresses, the junior and senior girls laced up their tennisshoes for the Powderpuff game. Ending with a score of20-21, the juniors started their winning streak by takinghome the title of champions. A friendly competition was also established with thedecorations of the class hallways. Students from eachgrade gathered with their scissors and duct tape todecorate their hallway with themed creations. Teachersthen voted on their favorite themes to start off the week. "Decorating was a lot of work but we were alldetermined to get it done," junior Carsyn Gibbs said."Having the juniors win made the work worth it, and it wasreally exciting for all of us."

"The spirit days were very creative and different fromfollowing years," freshman Madison Coulter said. "Myfavorite was denim day because it was easy andeveryone could be a part of it." Friday night consisted of a winning football game, complete with a firework show enjoyed by students, their families, and football spectators. The week came to an end with the final chapter -the Homecoming dance. Students piled in "Under theStars" for a night of dancing and singing to the music. As Student Senate members arrived back to theschool on the following Sunday morning to clean upfrom the festivities, the countdown had already begunfor the next year's Homecoming week.
