THE ISSUE

TECHNICIANS WERE LOSING APPROXIMATLY ONE HOUR PER DAY SEARCHING FOR SPECIALIZED TOOLS NEEDED FOR REPAIRS.

ITA HAD APPROXIMATELY 300 SQ FT OF UNUSED SPACE WHICH WAS NOT CREATING REVENUE, OR BEING PROPERLY UTILIZED.

ISSUE

iTA had approximately 300 SQ FT of unused floor space originally dedicated to parts warehouse space. iTA has also had issues with storage and location of Specialized Parts for the Service Department. These issues have compounded into lost time and revenue for the organization.

Employees feel more empowered when not spending large chunks of time searching for equipment to complete tasks. There has been better cooperation between Parts and Service Departments as the conflict of not being able to find parts has been eliminated.

EMPLOYEE SATISFACTIONThe utilization of physical space has led to more productivity, better aesthetics for the dealership, and maximization of profit per square inch of space.

UTILIZATION OF SPACE

With $140 in daily increase of revenue, the initial investment will be recouped in 18 weeks. iTA will then be gaining $700 a week or $35,000 a year in increased revenue directly related to implementing the storage space change. This money can be used to hire new employees, incentives and employee retention methods, or increased investment in tools and service equipment

INCREASED REVENUE iTA has decreased the time spend searching for specialized tools and has directly identified the addition of one billable hour per day since implementing change. The loss of downtime has increased performance thus increasing revenue. the decrease of downtime has led to approximately $140 a day revenue gain.

iTA invested $13,000 in Storage Equipment, Tool Organization, and Part Identification Database.
