The strategies of the Spare Parts Division are based on the higher plans of the company. What I would like to talk about here is two important goals we are always seeking to present to the customers:

First: Supply high quality productsSecond: Distinguished after-sale services

Concerning the first goal of supplying high quality products, the main reason pushing us to do that is to give the greatest possible benefit to our customers, which will certainly positively affect us albeit indirectly. This is a manifestation of the understanding of the partnership with our customers for our mutual benefit.I can confirm that the most important benefit the customer will realize by using high quality spare parts is to raise performance, increase productivity and reduction in operation cost which is “the objective of every customer”. Using spare-parts of less than the required specifications level results in:

• Frequent recurrence of breakdowns in the machine which leads to consuming bigger quantities of spare parts.• When a breakdown happens in any part of the machine and it keeps recurring, it may result in failures in its other sections. As an example, when using low quality flexible connecters in the pivotal irrigation appliance, this could lead to failures in the “gearbox or gear motor” as result of error repetition and sometimes this may cause other stoppages.• Frequent failures may certainly result in the increase of the suspension of the machine, which leads to the delay of the different agricultural programs causing lower production.• Recurring failures may lead to the suspension of work in many departments including in maintenance, among technicians, procurement, inventory and project management, which increases demand for employees or manpower.

Regarding the second objective that includes distinguished after-sale services, we seek to serve our customers so they can benefit through:

• Providing inventory for sufficient quantities of spare parts to meet the needs of all customers for the whole of the year or secure them in the least amount of time possible. This helps the avoidance of machine breakdowns for lack of spare parts and the customer’s then don’t need to stock up because of their availability. It also saves time and effort for providing the parts. • Having many distribution centers nationwide, whether they are branches of the company or the large number of distributors selected to carry out this mission. • The ability to deliver the spare parts to the project site, particularly to key customers and medium projects.• Integration of new machine selling outlets, which defines party liability and follow up guarantee.• Set up customer care center to be acquainted with the opinions, comments, problems and suggestions of the customers.

Del Monte Riyadh Branch Manager Osama Qabany:

Alkhorayef is Strategic Partner in SuccessAlkhorayef provided generators and different types of forklifts to Del Monte

Del Monte is one of the pioneering high quality fresh vegetables and fruit producers in the world. It entered the Saudi market recently although it has been in existence for more than a century and is now internationally known. It launched its operations in Riyadh at the end of last year. So far Del Monte has two branches in Riyadh and Jeddah. It provides fresh imported fruits as a first step in its operations since the company owns central cooling rooms to preserve produce and then to market it in Saudi Arabia. The company has its own farms where fruit produce are grown and then distribute them to its different markets around the world. These farms are also in a number of countries like the Philippines and Costa Rica. Also it buys certain fruits and vegetables from different countries such as USA, France, Spain, Italy and South Africa.

With Alkhorayef… Success Story

Del Monte bought its electricity generators,

he Del Monte Riyadh Branch Manager Osama Qabany called on all companies which depend for their work on Volvo

generators and machinery like all types of forklifts to deal with the Alkhorayef Company. He said the company has a highly professional staff; the technical equipments that are provided by the company are of top quality besides their 24-hour distinctive technical support service.

Volvo type, and also all of its equipment related to its warehouses including forklifts of all kinds and other machines used in the work process, relaying on the long history of the Alkhorayef Company in this field, its presence in the market and good reputation. This is in addition to its large size as well as its high international quality that it provides through global brands and its balanced prices. Qabany believes Alkhorayef’s success

lies in the distinctive services it presents to its customers, something which he experienced first hand, pointing out the relationship between those in positions of responsibility in the Alkhorayef Company developed from a formal one to friendship and brotherhood because of the work process and so this is his relations with them. He added this was the case from

the beginning with them keen to follow up at the highest levels. He gave an example about the immediate response of the Alkhorayef Company when an emergency situation happened as a result of one of the machines stopping. As soon as the Alkhorayef

technical support team was contacted they arrived on the spot to search and investigate the reasons for the problem, present solutions and make sure the work process is brought back to normal.Alkhorayef Company is keen about the issue of immediate response when dealing with the demands and needs of its customers, and permanently provides follow up. Alkhorayef is the first choice of customers, seen as an integrated system

that has become able to provide a niche for itself, far ahead of its competitors.

New EquipmentAlkhorayef was eager in providing the required training to Del Monte employees through the technical

and maintenance team who trained them on the new machines and showed how to operate them and deal with possible problems that may occur.Qabany said Alkhorayef is a strategic partner for success calling upon other companies to choose Alkhorayef because of its excellence in its work activities.Del Monte is preparing to expand its work besides fruits by using the machines Alkhorayef can supply it with following the first cooperation experience which was a great success. It is worth mentioning, the company’s warehouse in Jeddah is now considered the largest in the world which was previously the one in Dallas, Texas, USA.

I call upon all companies to deal with Alkhorayef after our successful experience with them

Alkhorayef and Volvo Penta

A Long History and Success StoryMore than 40 years of cooperation between the two companies whose fruits of

relations contributed to grounds for success

This success story begins as far back as in 1968 when Mr Bo Olsson, at that time Marketing Manager at Volvo Penta International, was out travelling in Saudi Arabia looking for a representative for Volvo Penta. He had got a tip about a man called Alkhorayef living in Riyadh.

After some difficulties and with the help from a local Postmaster, as interpreter, Bo Olsson finally found the very small office of Mr Alkhorayef in the back streets of the capital. After a short introduction Mr Olsson soon found out that Mr Alkhorayef’s company was already involved, on a small scale, in selling engines.

Every day for a whole week, Bo

his year it is more than 40, actually 42, years since Alkhorayef Commercial Co Ltd and Volvo Penta first made contacts and set the ground for an exceptional long and fruitful relationship between those two companies.

Olsson, Alkhorayef and the Postmaster sat in this very small office discussing business. Bo Olsson soon found out that he wanted to appoint Mr Alkhorayef as a Volvo Penta representative, but this was not an easy task. Mr Alkhorayef did not show so much interest in taking up business with Mr Olsson. After endless discussions and persuasions from Mr Olsson, Mr Alkhorayef finally agreed upon purchasing, on consignment, two Volvo Penta engines. Furthermore Mr Olsson also successive in persuading Volvo Penta to accept Mr Alkhorayef to become the company’s representative in Saudi Arabia. This was the fascinating start of

an extraordinary journey between two dynamic companies – still in full swing.

Alkhorayef GroupThe Alkhorayef Group, founded by

the late Abdullah Ibrahim Alkhorayef in 1957, has made its name in Saudi Arabia agriculture sector. The company soon represented reputable international producers of water pumps, agricultural, irrigation and well drilling equipment in the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia. Today the company have strong presence in all key markets across the Middle East, Africa, Europe, Asia and America.

Engines for IrrigationAccording to Mr. Jan-Eje Persson, with

more than 20 years as Sales Mgr at Volvo Penta, the main business between Volvo Penta and Alkhorayef has been related to industrial diesel engines for irrigation purposes. “The farmers in the desert are completely dependent on reliable water supply for irrigation. Up to now Volvo Penta have sold more than 45000 diesel engines, so called Power Pac’s, mainly to farmers through the Alkhorayef sales organisation. Still approximately, remarkably, 10000 of these units are still in use”.

The Volvo Penta engines power pumps, which through very deep holes in the ground forward the water via large pivot sprinkler systems to the ground surface. These systems, including the drilling are unique and developed by Alkhorayef.

Environment in FocusVolvo Penta and Alkhorayef have

also very close cooperation with several authorities in Saudi Arabia regarding important environmental matters. Among many things, Alkhorayef have developed a system of satellite monitoring of irrigation facilities in order to control the pumps, in addition, the launch of an invention to control water consumption to a minimum for each crop.

Dedicated TeamsThe extensive cooperation between the

two companies is still going on. The Sales and Aftermarket Team at Volvo Penta, who are responsible for the daily contacts with their counterparts at Alkhorayef, are Hans Andersson, Sales Mgr, Stefan Johansson, Parts Mgr, Robert Kitanovic, Service Mgr and Daniel Boberg, Mgr Industrial Segment Development. These people together with representatives from Management, Logistics, Business Control and Finance all belongs to Volvo Penta, Region International.

Volvo Penta Industrial Power Today

Technical quality, low cost of ownership and worldwide support are major reasons why builders of equipment and vehicles choose Volvo Penta power. As a part of the Volvo Group, one of the world’s largest diesel engine manufacturers, Volvo Penta has extensive resources for production and continuous development of diesel power systems.

machines from the Swedish Volvo Company, one of the leading European manufacturers of agricultural and industrial diesel machines, power generators and marine equipments characterized by its power performance towing capacity from 156 to 735 hp. Because of the Volvo Penta machines’ effectiveness, durability and suitability to weather conditions, thousands were marketed and sold in Saudi and other Arab markets. For years, the AlKhorayef Company received certificates of appreciation from Volvo Penta, ranking it first in machines distribution on the regional and international levels.

In light of this agricultural boom and the company’s eagerness to serve farmers’ interests it has provided high-performance and long-life-span equipments since 1981 from the John Deere Company whose products have the lion’s share of European and American markets. Moreover, the company met the requirements of agricultural needs, taking into account the variety and different cultivated land areas, and saving the efforts of farmers through importing and supplying field equipment used in all farming steps from preparing the land to harvesting it, including:

• Tractors of different towing capacity (between 30 to 500 hp) taking into consideration different field areas.

• All land preparing machines such as turning plows, chisel plows and leveling machine of different sizes

Machinery System Division of the AlKhorayef Commercial Company

Keeping Ahead in DevelopmentAge with Global Partnerships

Division set up to meet agricultural and industrial needs via top world companiesThe Machinery System Division was

set up in the AlKhorayef Commercial Company (ACC) to cater for the Group’s agricultural and industrial products. It is an accumulation of what it started more than 50 years ago in the agricultural sector, supplying agricultural and industrial machines from top international manufacturers and providing excellent services and valuable technical consultations to its customers, taking the bigger share of the Saudi market not only on the local but international level as well.

Agricultural SectorIts first step was in its provisioning of

agricultural machinery, which began in 1957 by supplying pumps, machines and well drilling which the AlKhorayef Company started investing in as a promising future, consummating its interest by contacting the American Layne & Bowler, Inc. in 1962 and becoming the sole distributor for the Western Lin irrigation pumps as well as Threaded Pipes, galvanized pipes, Flanged Pipes, Epoxy Coat and Ultra pipes. Today as well, the company markets the international Randolph Gears whose function is based on simultaneous water and air cooling, aluminum heat exchangers and capabilities of high axle-load.

Because of the expansion of the area for agricultural use as a result of moving to comprehensively develop the sector in 1970s and through state encouragement for self-sufficiency, the company realized the importance of providing agricultural machines from big international manufacturers. It imported Volvo Penta

audi Arabia witnessed an all-rounded industrial boom in the last few years, keeping abreast with the enduring economic growth in the Kingdom. For this reason, the Alkhorayef Group established a solid mechanism to keep pace with progress and diversify its activities to meet the ongoing economic euphoria.

• Wheat and forage harvesting machines of width of 12-14 feet and trailed and fastened harvesters.

• Chemical pesticides crop sprayers AlKhorayef was not satisfied with only

marketing agricultural equipments but worked to create special agricultural projects related to wheat and its production. And since 1983 the company started providing silos under the American Chief Silos to store its agricultural produce.

Water WealthBecause of the increasing demand for

pivotal machines, expansion of agricultural areas, desert weather conditions and rain shortage and preservation of ground water resources, the AlKhorayef Irrigation Systems Company cooperated with and received technical and technological support from leading and experienced international enterprises producing apparatuses like wheels, gearboxes, electric engines, electric parts and sprayers. This enabled it to manufacture irrigation equipments as efficient as imported ones.

Because of the important strategic geographical position the Kingdom enjoys and of the modern technology used in manufacturing these equipments, these machines were marketed on the highest Arab and international levels.

irrigation in the world, AlKhorayef produced the advanced pivotal irrigation system, which is available on two levels “galvanized and lined” and protected from rust and corrosion. It caused a huge industrial revolution in the irrigation field because of its perforated technical program usage in the main control panel according to the PLC system. This equipment is designed to give higher production rates with longer operation life span in concordance with the lengths of towers and multi-diameter pipes and reduces water leakage. This apparatus has been tested according to best international standards, having a high and distinctive power system and security levels and equipped with the latest and best sprayers suitable to the environmental and operational situations and type of crops.

Industrial SectorThe Machinery System Division is keen

to utilize all of its human and material resources to serve its customers by offering a diversification of company equipments and machines to keep abreast with the industrial boom the country is witnessing. In consequence of the increasing demand on generators to provide power to factories and mega projects nationwide, a special section for industrial products was opened and supplied with the highly-regarded Gulf power generators driven by the Swedish

Volvo, the French John Deere as well as the English Stamford engines to produce their power.

By virtue of the importance of handling equipment in all industrial and warehousing works, the company entered this field through cooperation with the Linde Company, a renowned and leading establishment in the global market.

Due to its high quality and different sizes and types (available capacity between 1 and 45 tons for different diesel, gas and electric handling equipment), the company managed to take a big share of the Saudi market in just four years. This could not have been achieved without the distinctive services it offers including:

• Providing skilled engineers and support technicians to offer suitable solutions to the customer as this product should be accurately chosen for best results.

• Continuous support for the product on the highest level by supplying spare parts and providing workshops with skilled engineers, technicians and required tools to perform maintenance in the shortest periods of time and according to international standards.

• Fully-equipped mobile workshops in every area of the country to perform maintenance at work site, which has led to increasing the productivity of the

partners. • Training courses for engineers and

technicians to learn about the latest in their fields of work to develop skills, and saving time and efforts.

• Training courses for customers to introduce product features and help them choose the best equipment.

• Training courses for customers to teach them on preventive maintenance and how to take care of the equipment.

In light of the Kingdom’s growing population, increasing drinkable water demand and raising number of swage water projects and because the Machinery System Division realizes the importance of providing pumps necessary for water, sewage water, energy, mining and water desalination applications, it imported in 2006 the well-known German KSB pumps in addition to the highly effective valves. The Division provides experienced engineers and technicians who have complete knowledge of the product and have attended training courses in Germany for that purpose.

Because KSP pumps enjoy good reputation alongside the industrial equipment systems, AlKhorayef opened branches in the Eastern Region, Western Region and the Yanbu Industrial City besides its branch in Riyadh. It also has highly skilled and trained engineers who have excellent knowledge and experience to satisfy the needs of customers and present advice to them to develop this vital product on the highest levels.

Government’s ProjectsGovernment projects take a big share of

industrial projects in the country. It is for this reason a special section for government sales was opened in the Machinery System Division to contact government parties to register the company within their classified list, to follow-up on the tenders and to provide quotations. This section is run by a group of qualified employees who have expertise and high skills.

After-sale ServicesThe main objective of AlKhorayef was

not only limited to marketing machines but also to gain a good reputation for itself by achieving the trust of its customers. It realized the goal is to provide the highest after-sale services and put forward strategic plans to accomplish this and utilizing all the technical, human and financial capabilities for that:

Spare PartsBecause of the Kingdom’s climate and

the long working hours in using these

machines, the company always sought to provide original spare parts to its customers. These are divided into two:

• Retail Sales Section: It markets and sells spare parts directly to clients

• Company and customer sales agents: Selling spare parts to sales agents and agricultural companies. Also, an important spare parts section commenced, being the management of products through latest means. This section works on the availability of spare parts in the warehouse and supplies the storehouses of the company branches and the customers’ stores with their necessary needs through the following strategies:

• When new machines arrive the technical support engineer is contacted to check them and prepare lists of “fast-moving” parts, regular-maintenance parts, and those critical to avoid machine stoppages. They are ordered and stored in the warehouse before the machines are sold to customers.

• As to the machines that are already operating in the market, the date of their sale is checked through computerisation that includes the history of the movement of those types of equipments since 1987.

WarehousesAlKhorayef Company modernized its

operations management established on wide areas in Central Headquarters of the

company and branches. Some of these are open and some covered to store the equipment and spare parts in suitable temperatures to make sure they are not damaged. These have cooling systems and protected from fire hazards and other natural disasters.

To deliver the machines and spare parts to the branches, agents and customers, a fleet of trucks of different loading capacities travel every day from the Central Headquarters to the company branches,

distributors and customers crossing long distances to guarantee that the machines are delivered in less than 20 hours. Daily and weekly journeys are made to the rest of the regions. Contracts are also signed with local (land and air) transport companies to solve the shortage of trucks that may occur from time-to-time.

MaintenanceRealizing that maintenance is the

principle door to gain the customers’ trust and maintain its reputation, the company set up a number of maintenance centers in all of the governorates. These centers are divided in two:

• Fixed centers in company branches: This is to check and carry out the needed maintenance on all equipments.

• Mobile centers to get to locations of machines: This is to check them and carry out necessary emergency maintenance to guarantee machines are functioning in top form, saving the customer effort and money. Regular visits are also organized to the centers of customers and major companies to offer technical support for and carry out free regular maintenance of their equipments.

Regular maintenance involves worn-out spare parts like filters, belts, regular oil samples, motor check performance,

and identifying for possible stoppages before they occur as stipulated in maintenance contracts signed with major agricultural companies and key customers.

Customer Care CentersBecause of the importance of

communications with customers the Machinery Systems Division set up a specialized Customer Care Center, contacting them to gauge their satisfaction of the services they receive, and their observations. These are then studied, and work solutions made.

Training CoursesThe Machinery System Division has

maintenance engineers and technicians who have excellent scientific and practical experiences. It also organizes training courses built on scientific and practical grounds drawing on the experiences of the manufacturers of these equipments. They include:

• Practical and technical training courses for maintenance engineers and technicians on the latest developments.

• Administrative training courses to develop the technical skills of sales teams and providing the educative skills necessary for the selling process and advice to the customer.

• Dealing with the customer• Training on the use of the computer

in the selling processThe slogan of honesty, reliability,

customer satisfaction and product quality is the goal the AlKhorayef Company sought to achieve throughout its long historical path, employing all of its human and material potentials to offer the best services to its customers depending on the support of Allah, the All Mighty, expertise of its staff and its experiences with its customers. This has made it a center of pioneering in the agricultural and industrial fields, not only in the Saudi market but also in global markets with its confirmation on its firm values and policy.

Serving You at theCustomer Care Center

Customer care, this simple yet profound term, has an important significance in the business world as it opens the doors wide open for product marketing, which will not reach the sought-out-for goals unless customer satisfaction, at least to a certain degree, is achieved.

The customer is a treasure that should be taken care of. If he has a complaint, he talks about the problem or misbehaviors. By knowing about such, they are treated, and consequently quality in the company is achieved. Or if he has an observation, and is taken into account, it can benefit the work process and make the company a distinguished one. The customer may have an idea or suggestion which contributes to the development of the work process, saves time and effort.

Here comes the role of customer care centers to communicate with customers and get their impression on the products and services offered to them. Focusing on customer care and after-sale follow up is one of the most important reasons for attracting customers to buy products and where attention and care guarantee customer’s assurance and trust in the products. On the other hand, such centers can serve as a first line to absorb the irritation a customer may have, calm him down and make sure things between him and the company run smoothly.

Through our understanding which is based on serving the customer first and foremost, we in the branches operations management set up a Customer Care Center of the Machinery System Division in 2007. And since the launch the Center has offered its services and support to customers nationwide where many applications were received and all dealt with, thanks to Allah.

We seek to improve the service through the duties of the center that are:

• Receiving remarks and suggestions of customers, reviewing details and finding speedy solutions.

• Daily communications with customers and receiving their observations about the products and services.

• Understanding the expectations and needs of customers.• Honestly transferring customers’ opinion in the product to suppliers so that they

could improve on it.• Presenting information to the sales and marketing department to help in support

and complementary sale process.• Providing data base of customer’s addresses and contact numbers.

Lastly, we, at the Customer Care Center “Machinery System Division” represented by the branches operation management look forward to offer with other departments in the company the best services to our honorable customers.

Alkhorayef and theThird Generation

Alkhorayef Company is gigantic. Its men, factories and branches are spread worldwide with their distinguished specialties of managements and star businessmen who led the company to its universal status by grace of its credibility and transparency which are the most important grounds for work action. Through this also, it was able to establish an extensive and special base of customers across the Kingdom and contribute, in four decades, to serving the agricultural sector.

Alkhorayef is the only company that serves farmers from the bottom of the well to the doors of the silos. It is also contributing to the rationalization of water consumption and is a pioneer in the field of modern irrigation industries, which plays a principle role in reducing water consumption through the Alkhorayef pivotal irrigation and pumps factories.

Through my experiences that I was honored to serve in the Alkhorayef Company, and my full knowledge of the way it is run, I found myself bound by the testimony that states there are men like Sheikh Abdulrahman, Saad, Mohammed and Hamad who work brilliantly and which makes employees inside the company feel a sense of belonging and allegiance. This is especially so because those men possess a rich depository of administrative and humane facets that allows the company to be one of the most important in the private sector.

Today—and with the new policy, new slogan and the third generation—you discover as someone who is following up, an observer, and a customer, that the work moves in a planned and scientific way enabling the company to become a center of advancement on the world level and a vital party in the national and global economies.

With a modest perspective I think Alkhorayef, with the third generation, will achieve rapid economic leaps. With the youths growing up in an economic powerhouse of experience and between luminaries of workers, employees, technicians, managers and Board members, the company possesses a unique touch for continuing growth.

Finally, I would like to thank all employees on top of whom is Sheikh Saad Alkhorayef and Sheikh Mohammed Alkhorayef who played a great role in my entry into the private sector, and I will always be in their debt so long as I live.
