n As nAmEs go, guillame & the coutu Dumonts’ doesn’t win him friends easily. “Flyer designers hate me,” says the montreal-born, Berlin-based producer. over the last three years he’s been bringing the funk to the underground with big tracks like last year’s ‘Les gans’ and releases on musique Risquée, oslo and circus company. on stage, he’s a laptop performer with a difference, playing live organ solos on his keyboard and bongos on drum pads like James Brown as a one-man band. GiggsHip-hop kid locks down South London

n giggs (sHoRt FoR ‘giggler’ because he’s always smiling) is a 27-year-old rapper who, after years of grinding as a garage mc with no love from the media decided to switch to his own firebrand of ‘gangland’ style hip-hop. the Peckham native took the bull by the horns, handing out free mix cDs and gaining the support of Radio 1’s Westwood, who regularly rinses giggs’ tracks on his show. the album ‘Walk in Da Park’ features his husky flow over grimy beats and heartfelt reflections, with the radio banger ‘Uummm!!’ getting heavy rotation on the air waves. With tour dates planned, expect to hear more in the coming months. Single ‘Uummm!!’ and album ‘Walk in Da Park’ are out now

Jesse tittsworth is a Washington Dc-born producer who makes the kind of bassy hip hop fused with house that fills the sets of everyone from Diplo to sinden. the Baltimore sound really broke through to the UK clubs last year and is now heard in clubs playing everything from grime to electro. if you enjoyed Hervé’s covermount cD last month, tittsworth is another name to add to your list. His album, ‘12 steps’, features the vocals of santogold and spank Rock, not to mention an update on DJ class’s ‘tear the club Up’ that tittsworth has grabbed with both hands before giving a good tweaking. oops – sorry! Los UpdatesKinky techno-pop from Luciano’s amigo

n JoRgE gonzáLEz is an artist with pedigree, especially in his home country of chile. He spent the 80s in Pinochet-baiting synth-rock band Los Prisioneros before venturing into pure electronic music and creating Los Updates with Loreto otero. now his new project has been snapped up by Luciano’s cadenza label, yielding an album, ‘First if you Please’, that melds his lascivious vocals to springy, spunky minimal techno and electronic freak-pop. if gonzález had an English accent, some of his lyrics would land him on the sex offenders’ register, but a sprinkling of sleazy Latin charm allows him to get away with it. Just.The album ‘First If You Please’ is out on September 22
