This prestigious tournament is a valuable experience, and one which our boys are sure to flourish in. We have assembled all the teams, and we’re certain with the strong teams that we have, we’re going to give a great account of the quality we have in our system against the Academies and International sides assembled for this years tournament. As a player signed to one of our Development Centres, you will be able to put into practice all that you have learnt in your training sessions and in matches and test yourself against some of the strongest youth systems in the country, with the likes of Port Vale, Stoke City, Shrewsbury Town and Crewe Alexandra in attendance. With this experience you’ll increase your footballing knowledge and a get a little taste of what its like to be a professional footballer. You’ll also meet other great players signed to our Centres and see the standard of the best youngster from right across the country. Whilst we try to find excursions for the players during free time, the main use of this time will be to rest and prepare for the next game. What we are offering the boys is not a holiday, but a taste of tournament football in a professional environment, with players expected to conduct themselves in a professional manner. We will travel on Monday, 23 rd July, and aim to be at our accommodation at 5pm. On arrival players will be put into squads, have a meeting with their teammates and Coaches and be allocated their rooms for the week. PLAYERS MEETING This takes place on our arrival and here players will meet their Coaches and teammates for the week and be briefed on various aspects of the week. For example; Coaches expectations, both football wise and in terms of behaviour and conduct Players will be given a curfew for lights out The structure of the week, any planned excursions, team meeting times etc Allocation of playing kit for the week Health and Safety and Fire Procedures Players will have the chance to raise any queries with the coaches Each squad will have two coaches, a lead and an assistant. This means we will have an adult to child ratio of 1 – 8 in operation. ACCOMMODATION Players will be allocated into rooms. Squads will be grouped together, with coaching staff in adjacent rooms, in the interest of player safety. Whilst we will try to accommodate some room mate requests, players will be with their squad and encouraged to mix and make new friends, so they will not necessarily be put with players from the same Development Centre. DAMAGES Any damage to accommodation or the site will be invoiced to us and passed to you. Whilst we do not expect that his will happen, you must ensure that you are responsible and look after your surroundings. The playing of any ball games is strictly prohibited in the accommodation and surrounding areas. If you find a fault with your accommodation please report it to us so we can report it to reception. THE BANK – All player money will be collected by their Lead Coach for the week when they arrive. This money will be monitored and allocated to the player every day in accordance with any instructions given by the player’s parents. Please put money in a named envelope with a note explaining your son’s daily allowance. We would advise players budget £10 a day for food, and look to have around £10 a day for activities. All activities are optional, and how much money players bring is completely at your discretion. £100 for the week would be our guideline.

KEELE  TOURNAMENT  2012  As  the  Keele  Tournament  is  almost  upon  us  we  think  it’s  time  that  you  hear  a  bit  about  what’s  in  store.

We  will  travel  on  Monday,  23rd  July,  and  aim  to  be  at  our  accommodation  at  5pm.  On  arrival  players  will  be  put  into  squads,  have  a  meeting  with  their  team-‐mates  and  Coaches

and  be  allocated  their  rooms  for  the  week.

PLAYERS  MEETING  –      This  takes  place  on  our  arrival  and  here  players  will  meet  their  Coaches  and  team-‐mates  for  the  week  and  be  briefed  on  various  aspects  of  the  week.  For  example;

• Coaches  expectations,  both  football  wise  and  in  terms  of  behaviour  and  conduct  • Players  will  be  given  a  curfew  for  lights  out  • The  structure  of  the  week,  any  planned  excursions,  team  meeting  times  etc  • Allocation  of  playing  kit  for  the  week  • Health  and  Safety  and  Fire  Procedures  • Players  will  have  the  chance  to  raise  any  queries  with  the  coaches  • Each  squad  will  have  two  coaches,  a  lead  and  an  assistant.  This  means  we  will  have  an

adult  to  child  ratio  of  1  –  8  in  operation.    ACCOMMODATION  –    Players  will  be  allocated  into  rooms.  Squads  will  be  grouped  together,  with  coaching  staff  in  adjacent  rooms,  in  the  interest  of  player  safety.  Whilst  we  will  try  to  accommodate  some  room-‐mate  requests,  players  will  be  with  their  squad  and  encouraged  to  mix  and  make  new  friends,  so  they  will  not  necessarily  be  put  with  players  from  the  same  Development  Centre.    DAMAGES  –      Any  damage  to  accommodation  or  the  site  will  be  invoiced  to  us  and  passed  to  you.

“The  first  90  minutes  of  a  match  are  the  most  important”  Sir  Bobby  Robson

“If  you  only  ever  give  90%  in  training,  then  you  will  only  ever  give  90%  when  it  matters.”

Michael  Owen  –  former  Liverpool,  Real  Madrid,  Newcastle  United  and  Manchester  United  forward

WHAT  TO  PACK        We  advise  that  players  bring  TWO  BAGS,  and  no  suitcases,  on  the  trip.  Their  main,  big  bag  is  for  normal,  casual  clothes  and  training  wear  and  the  other  small  match  day  bag  should  come  inside  that  when  we  travel.  We  also  ask  that  players  bring  a  sleeping  bag.  All  bags  should  be  clearly  labeled  with  the  player’s  full  name.    PLEASE  DO  NOT  PACK  ANYMORE  THAN  YOU  NEED  SPACE  IS  LIMITED  FOR  LUGGAGE    MATCH  DAY  BAG  –  This  will  be  used  everyday  and  should  be  able  to  carry  the  players  studded  Boots,  Moulded  Boots,  Trainers,  Shin  Pads,  Towel,  plus  you  can  also  pack  spare  studs,  straps,  tape,  boot  cleaning  equipment,  skins  and  gloves.  ALL  PLAYERS  WILL  RECEIVE  MATCH  DAY  KITS  FOR  THE  GAMES.      OTHER  BAG  –    All  players  should  try  to  bring:    Their  Development  Centre  Training  Kit,  Waterproofs,  Tracksuits,  Polo  Shirt.    Please  note  that  these  items  are  not  essential  so  please  do  not  think  that  you  have  to  get  all  of  these  items.    If  you  do  not  have  these  items  from  the  Development  Centre,  please  bring  alternatives  so  the  boys  still  have  appropriate  clothing  to  train  in  and  travel  to  games  in.  Casual  Wear  for  the  evening,  for  example  2  pairs  of  Jeans,  a  Tracksuit,  some  T-‐  Shirts,  Hoody  /  Jumper,  Underwear  and  Socks,  Swimming  trunks  and  a  towel,  incase  we  go  swimming,  would  also  worth  packing.  All  players  to  bring  PJ’s/Nightwear,  Toiletries    FOOD/PACKED  LUNCH  –    We  have  found  it  saves  money  by  getting  some  refreshments  before  we  leave  for  tours.  Energy  drinks/bottled  water  and  refreshments  are  all  expensive  at  service  stations  so  we  would  advise  that  you  pack  some  drinks  for  the  week  to  save  money.      PHONES/GAMES  CONSOLLES/CAMERAS  –    In  this  day  and  age,  many  players  have  their  own  mobiles,  and  games  consoles,  it  is  acceptable  for  players  to  bring  these  on  the  trip  but  it  is  their  responsibility  to  look  after  them,  and  I  would  advise  parents  to  have  them  covered  under  your  own  insurance.  Elite  Advanced  Development  Centre  accept  no  responsibility  for  damage  to,  or  loss  of,  such  items.  We  advise  only  that  players,  if  any,  bring  handheld  consoles,  on  these  trips.  As  noted  earlier,  this  a  footballing  trip  so  we  do  expect  players  to  rest  properly  during  free  time.

Activities        As  you  can  see  in  the  fixture  lists  for  the  tournament,  there  are  times  when  the  players  have  an  extended  break  from  football  and  in  these  times  we  will  look  to  arrange  for  the  players  to  do  things  away  from  football  to  unwind.    As  explained  earlier  in  the  itinerary,  we  would  advise  budgeting  for  around  £10  a  day  for  activities  as  there  are  things  in  the  local  area  that  we  may  be  able  to  take  the  players  to  do  a  bit  of  team  bonding  and  relaxing.

• Cinema  –  there  is  a  Vue  Cinema  2  miles  from  Keele  University  • Driving  Range  –  across  the  road  from  Keele University,  there  is  a  golf  course  and  driving  range  • Bowling  –  There  are  various  bowling  alleys  to  be  found  nearby.  • Waterpark  –  Waterworld  can  be  found  just  15  minutes  from  Keele  University

 These  are  just  examples  of  some  of  the  activities  that  we  are  looking  for  the  players  to  be  able  to  take  part  in  away  from  the  football.  However,  we  need  to  reiterate,  these  will  only  be  available  to  boys  if  we  have  enough  free  time  and  it  will  not,  in  their  coaches  opinion,  impact  negatively  on  their  football  performance.    We  are  attending  a  professional  tournament,  not  going  on  holiday,  and  football  will  be  the  focus  of  the  week  for  the  players  and  coaches.

Evening  Meals    In  line  with  our  professional  approach  to  the  tour,  we  have  organised  set  menus  at  different  restaurants  local  to  our  accommodation  for  the  players  to  pick  from  each  evening.  These  menus  should  provide  our  players  with  the  right  foods  so  they  have  enough  energy  to  perform  at  their  best  each  day.      We  will  be  eating  at:    Harvester,  Trentham  Lakes  Cherry  Tree  (Hungry  Horse)  Pizza  Hut,  Longton  Frankie  &  Benny’s,  Stoke  on  Trent
