Firmware Upgrade Procedure 1. Equipment required:

a. A computer equipped with a parallel printer port

b. Key Digital KD-PC2 parallel port-to-VGA upgrade cable (included with KD-

PC2 card) 2. Using your computer go to http://www.keydigital.com/ 3. Select Products -> Digital Video Processors pull-down menu:

4. Click on the KD-PC2 card graphics:

5. On top of page click “Firmware/Control Modules” link:

6. Select Firmware Upgrade... "Download" link, save zip file on your computer:

Note: The actual firmware version may differ from v2.06E shown above. 7. Unzip the saved zip file – remember the directory where the file was unzipped to. 8. Open “install files” folder located within the unzipped directory

9. Double-click “port95nt.exe”:

10. Follow the installation instructions (use typical installation, not custom):

11. Reboot the computer after installation is finished:

12. Re-open “install files” folder 13. Open "ISP 2.5a\program files\Myson Century\ISP" sub-folder:

14. Double-click on “ISP” Application (a window titled "Myson Century ISP 2.5A" opens):

a. Click “Create Security File” button on lower right hand side of the window

b. Click “upper” arrow under “Command No” in new window on lower right hand

side until the number reaches 4

c. In “ISP Slave Add.” type “94” d. In “SlaveB Add.” type “94” e. In “Command 1” type “ac” f. In “Command 2” type “ca” g. In “Command 3” type “53” h. Leave the remaining fields blank

Note: Type what is inside parenthesis, do not include the parenthesis. i. Click OK

j. Under “MTV Type” in new window select "MTV512M64" from the scroll down

menu. k. Press “Load MCU File” button. l. Select the newest firmware which is a “.hex” file located in the directory from

step 6. Once the .hex file is loaded successfully the following message is displayed:

Click OK.

m. Finally, the following “Myson Century ISP 2.5a” window will be displayed:

Note: the actual text displayed in “MCU File” field above is firmware revision and directory path dependent Do not close the window as you will need it in step 21.

15. Turn OFF the Pioneer TV set. 16. Insert the KD-PC2 card into your TV set. 17. Turn the TV power ON. 18. Connect the supplied upgrade cable as follows:

a. Connect the parallel printer port side of the cable to the PC b. Connect the VGA connector side of the cable to the KD-PC2 VGA port

19. Using the Pioneer set select “Input 3” (using Pioneer remote or the side keypad) 20. Using the KD-PC2 remote control perform the following steps (pointing the remote at

the TV set): a. Hit “Menu” button b. Select option “5.Set up” on the On Screen Display (OSD) c. Select “1.Upgrade” in the sub menu by pressing “Set” button (in the middle of

the arrow keys) d. The Pioneer screen will go black and a message will appear: “Upgrade”

21. On the computer in the window "Myson Century ISP 2.5a" (from step 14.m) click on “RUN” button:

22. Please allow at least 1 minute for the upgrade process to complete. 23. Once the upgrade is complete the KD-PC2 automatically reboots. 24. The new F/W revision is displayed at the lower left of the menu on the Pioneer TV set

when the user presses “Menu” key on KD-PC2 remote control.

Troubleshooting Guide

1) Step 21 results in an error message: “Enter ISP Mode …Error ! Warning ! Target not exist …”

Solutions: A. Make sure the upgrade cable is properly connected as described in the

Upgrade Procedure step 18 B. Make sure that PC parallel port is configured as follows:

I/O port address = 378h Interrupt = IRQ7 Mode = ECP + EPP

The parallel port configuration is usually performed via PC BIOS and is accessible on boot-up. The BIOS configuration instructions are PC brand dependent - please contact PC manufacturer for guidance

Repeat the Upgrade Procedure starting from step 21 after following solutions A and/or B above.

2) Step 21 results in an error message: “Checksum error”.

Solutions: Repeat the Upgrade Procedure starting from step 21

3) Pioneer TV set is not able to select “Input 3” via Pioneer remote or the TV

keypad. Cause: KD-PC2 card is not seated well in the Pioneer TV set Solutions: Turn off the Pioneer TV set, remove and re-install the KD-PC2 card

4) Picture disappears from TV screen after KD-PC2 card resolution is set to

“HDTV” Cause: The Pioneer TV set does not support the selected video resolution Solutions: The KD-PC2 card needs to be reset to default video resolution (1024x768): Press the following keys in sequence on KD-PC2 remote control: “3”, “6”, “4”, “1”. The picture on the TV screen should now re-appear.
