Project Description:  Kapit Bisig Para sa Ilog Pasig (KBPIP), a project of  the ABS‐CBN Foundation, 

Inc.,  is  an  organization  of   committed  individuals  dedicated  to  the 

rehabilitation  and  transformation  of   the  Pasig  River.  Realizing  the 

importance  of   first  cleaning  the  various  sources  that  flow  into  the  Pasig 

before taking on the main body of  the river  itself, KBPIP has been working 

to rehabilitate

 waterways

 first,

 starting

 with

 Estero

 de

 Paco

 and

 Estero

 de

 

San Miguel. Part of  the overhaul  is  the renovation of  Paco Market, a 100‐

year‐old structure that also dumps wastewater and rubbish  into Estero de 

Paco.  After  the  renovation,  we,  together  with  the  vendors  and  other 

stakeholders,  strive  to  turn  Paco  Market  into  an  environment‐friendly 

model for modern‐day trade. 

For this activity, students will be assigned to work on building segregation 

bins for the Paco Market. Using recycled oil tin cans and wood, they will be 

divided  into 3‐4 groups to build a three‐bin segregation set with the  labels 

nabubulok , hindi  nabubulok  and  residwal . The bins will be  turned over  to 

the

housekeepers 

that 

help 

maintain 

cleanliness 

in 

the 

area. 

After building the segregation bins, students will  join housekeepers in their 

daily  maintenance  duties  in  the  market.  This  range  from  collecting 

segregated trash to sweeping floors.
