We would love to get you out on the water, feeling confident, and having fun! We rent single or tandem kayaks and canoes by the hour. Rental rates are listed in the chart below. All rates include paddle(s), life jackets (PFDs), and basic safety/paddling instructions. Reservations: To reserve a kayak ahead of time or to inquire about availability, call the Kayak Center at 978-995-2362. Discounts: Discounts are given to UMass Lowell Students, Faculty, Staff and Alumni with a valid ID. Introduction to Kayaking July 9 & 11, 5-8 p.m. (Must attend both days)August 5 & 7 5-8 p.m. (Must attend both days)July 13 or August 10, 9 a.m.-5 p.m.

$100/person

This 6 to 8 hour course follows ACA Level 1 and some Level 2curricula. We focus on helping participants build skills in flatwater kayaking. We will start by developing an under-standing of the paddling environment, personal preparation,and equipment use. Then we will teach rescue techniques,maneuvers, and paddle strokes with plenty of practice. Cost includes use of all equipment. This course is designed for adults, but children, ages fourteen and up, are welcome to participate with a parent.

Quick Start to Flatwater KayakingSaturdays June 22, 29 or July 6, 2-4 p.m. Thursday July 25 6-8 p.m.

$30/person

Quick Start to Flatwater Kayaking is a 2-hour programdesigned to give participants a jump start in kayak skills. This clinic emphasizes safety and basic skill development in recreational kayaks. Participants will learn about on-watersafety, equipment use, and paddling strokes in this experien-tial course. This course is designed for adults, but children,ages fourteen and up, are welcome to participate with a parent.

Sunset Sunday Tours7-9 p.m.

Every 1st and 3rd Sunday:June 23, July 7 & 21, August 4 August 18* 6:30-8:30 p.m.

$30/person

On this guided tour we will meet at the Boathouse at 7p.m. and paddle upstream on the Merrimack River. We will enjoythe sunset while floating on the water before heading backto the Boathouse in the twilight. Please come 15 minutesearly if you would like kayaking instruction. Appropriate foradults and children. Pre-registration online not required butrecommended. *Note: Tour on August 18 begins at 6:30due to an earlier sunset.

Moonlight Tours9-11 p.m.

Saturday June 22, Monday July 22, Monday August 19

$30/person

Our moonlight tours are guided tours of the MerrimackRiver using the light of the full moon. As the temperaturebegins to cool and world quiets, paddling by moonlightoffers a special experience that you will remember forever. Please come 15 minutes early if you would likekayaking instruction. Appropriate for adults and children.Pre-registration online not required but recommended.

Kayak Tours & Events

Kayaking Kids Clinic 9 a.m.-12 p.m. 3 mornings/week

T/W/Th July 16-18 T/W/Th July 23-25 M/W/F July 29, 31, & August 2

$100/person

This fun clinic runs for nine hours over three days and combines basic kayak skill development and environmentalstewardship with team building activities for a truly uniqueexperience. First and foremost, participants will learn how tobe safe and have fun on the water. They will learn about riverecology while paddling beside ducks and herons, and gainself-confidence and teamwork through team building initiatives. Appropriate for kids ten to thirteen years old.

Free Kayak Kids Open HouseWednesday, July 3, 9 a.m.-12 p.m.

For those who want to learn more about what kayak kids is allabout, join us for this free open house. Plan to spend at leastan hour while we play some games, take you on the water,and explore together. Family members are encouraged to participate together.

Quick Start Families Saturday, July 20, 2-4 p.m.

$45 for 1 adult and 1 child

We are offering a special quick start course in July that is open to families in order for parents and children, brothers and sisters, aunts, and uncles to learn together. Children of all ages are welcome to participate with a parent.

Weekly Events• Two-for-Tuesdays: Get 2 hour rentals for the price

of 1 hour, every Tuesday

• Free-Friend Fridays: 5-8 p.m. Rent a tandem kayak for the price of a single every Friday

Custom ProgramsWe offer custom tours and programs, available for diversegroups from boy or girl scout troops to corporate groups.This option allows you to build a program that fits yourneeds and choose the times and dates that best fit yourschedule. To schedule your program today complete aCustom Kayak Program Request Form online. Note: You need at least 6 people to create a customprogram. We recommend you complete your request at least 2 weeks in advance of you preferred date.
