2 Setup methods according to DIN EN ISO 17664

NoteThe preparation methods for the instruments and motors are found in the separateinstructions for use that accompany the instrument and motor packages.

NoteDo not use solvents or aggressive chemicals.

NoteDue to stagnation, damage can arise during first use or after periods of disuse(weekends, holidays, vacation, etc.). Remove each handpiece/motor (without anattached instrument) from the holder, and alternatingly operate it with water andair. Actuate the tumbler filler several times.

2.1.1 Manual cleaning

Clean the patient chair

CAUTION

Colour-changing textilesTextiles that can change colour can cause permanent discoloration.▶ Remove discolourations with soap and water.

▶ Clean all outer surfaces with a soft cloth and an approved disinfectant.

Cleaning the treatment unit

▶ Clean all surfaces with a soft cloth and a mild, non-abrasive cleaning solution.

Clean mouth rinsing basin

NoteClean the spittoon several times daily.

NoteDo not use acid-containing, sand-containing and foaming cleansers.

Cleaning the assistant unit

▶ Remove the instruments and suction hoses from the holder.▶ Clean the assistant unit with a soft cloth and mild liquid cleanser; do not use

scouring cleaning solution.

Cleaning the holder pads on the dentist unit

NoteThe holder pads on the dentist unit can be removed for cleaning without a tool.

Cleaning the handle on the dentist's unit

NoteThe handle on the 1058 S dentist unit is removable for cleaning without a tool.

▶ Press the button on the handle and remove the handle.▶ Clean the handle under flowing water.

Cleaning the holder cover on the dentist's unit

NoteThe holder covers can be removed for easier cleaning.Do not thermodesinfect or sterilise.

▶ Pull the snap-in buttons outward and carefully remove the cover.

▶ Clean the holder under flowing water.

NoteCheck the oil trap and filter every week.

▶ If water is in the trap, drain it and change the O-rings on the Multiflex coupling.▶ If necessary, change the return air filter and clean the oil trap.

Cleaning the suction hoses - Hydroclean function

NoteClean the suction hoses after each treatment and disinfect them daily.

NoteMake sure that the slides to the cannula holders of the suction tubes.

▶ Press the LP/AP button on the assistant unit.The LEDs flash for approx. 4 seconds.

▶ While the LEDs are flashing, press the "Rinse spittoon" button on the assistantunit.The hydroclean function is started. This lasts approximately 2.5 minutes.

▶ To prematurely turn off the hydroclean function, press the "Rinse spittoon" buttonagain.

The suction lines, filter sieve and drain (from the filter housing to the separator sys‐tem) are rinsed automatically for approx. 150 seconds with pure water by activatingthe suction machine. The bowl rinse is turned on and off several times.

Exchange the sieve inserts.

NoteCheck the sieve inserts daily and after surgery. The sieves (Mat. no. 0.763.3423)must be exchanged at the latest when the suction decreases.Cleaning is not recommended for hygienic reasons.

▶ Remove the suction tube from the holder.The suction motor starts automatically when the suction tube is removed fromthe holder.

▶ Hold the napkin under the sieve seat, and pull the sieve out of the housing.

▶ If needed, insert the new sieve insert Mat. no. 0.763.3423 into the seat.▶ Wipe the suction tubes with disinfectant.

Rinse the supply hoses

NoteBefore treatment, rinse all supply hoses without instruments for approximately 2minutes.

Cleaning the suction hoses connectors

NoteClean and sterilise the connectors daily or as needed.

▶ Remove the connectors from the suction hoses.

▶ Clean the connector by brushing it off under flowing water.

NoteThe connectors can be washed for at least 10 minutes at 93℃ (total cycle approx.20 min) in the thermodesinfector.

2.2 Disinfection

2.2.1 Manual disinfection

NoteDo not spray disinfect since the disinfectant can penetrate gaps and fissures andloosen the paint that can mix with the disinfectant.

Allowed disinfectants▪ Incidin Liquid (Ecolab)▪ FD 322 (Dürr)▪ Microcide (Schülke&Mayr)

▶ Follow your manufacturer's instructions for use when using the disinfectant.

The following parts can be disinfected by wiping: The surface of the treatment unit,cushions, motors, scaler, monitor, treatment light, the outside of the instrument andsuction hoses.

▶ Apply disinfectant to a cloth and wipe clean.

Disinfecting the spray mist suction hose

NoteWe recommend using KaVo DEKASEPTOL or another disinfectant according tothe manufacturer's instructions to disinfect the spray mist suction system.

▶ Draw 150 to 250 ml cold water out of the cleaned spittoon or another containerwith the spray mist suction system.

▶ Press the dosing unit with the mounted suction handpiece once. The DEKA‐SEPTOL gel is sucked out of the dosing device.

▶ Draw off water again. Min. 150 ml, max. 250 ml.▶ Draw another dose of DEKASEPTOL gel.

▶ Lay down the suction tube.

Disinfecting the saliva ejector hose

NoteWe recommend using KaVo DEKASEPTOL or another disinfectant according tothe manufacturer's instructions to disinfect the saliva ejector system.

▶ Draw 150 to 250 ml cold water out of the cleaned spittoon or another containerwith the saliva ejector.

▶ Draw a dose of DEKASEPTOL gel, and lay down the hose.

2.2.2 Automated disinfection

Disinfect the mouth rinsing basin

▶ Add a dose of DEKASEPTOL gel to the mouth rinsing basin.▶ Distribute the DEKASEPTOL gel with a brush and let it react for approximately

5 minutes.▶ After the exposure time, thoroughly rinse the mouth rinsing basin and drain and

clean with a brush if necessary.

▶ To thermodisinfect the mouth rinsing basin, turn the rinsing basin anti-clockwiseand lift it off.

▶ Disinfect the porcelain spittoon in the thermodesinfector for 10 min at 93°C (totalcycle approx. 20 min.).

NoteThe glass mouth rinse basin may not be cleaned in the thermodesinfector.

Disinfecting the tumbler holder and tumbler filler

▶ Pull the tumbler filler ① (Mat. no. 0.764.8541) upward and lift off.▶ Remove the tumbler holder plate Mat. no. 0.764.6153) and cover

(Mat. no. 1.001.1425) ②.

▶ Thermodisinfect the tumbler filler for at least 10 minutes at 93°C (Total cycle:approximately 20 min.)

NoteInspect the O-ring (Mat. no. 0.200.6128) for damage and exchange if necessary toprevent water or oxidation damage.

Regularly slightly lubricate the O-ring with silicone grease Mat. no. 1.000.6403.

Disinfect the handle and holder pad

▶ Disinfect the hygienic handle and holder pads in the thermodesinfector for 10min. at 93℃ (total cycle 20 min.).

Disinfecting the connectors

▶ The connectors can be washed for at least 10 minutes at 93℃ (total cycle ap‐prox. 20 min) in the thermodesinfector.

2.3 Sterilisation

2.3.1 Sterilising the instruments

CAUTION

NoteThe instruments should be sterilised according to the respective instructions foruse.

2.3.2 Prepare the suction hose connectors

NoteClean and prepare the connectors daily or as needed.

Cleaning

▶ Remove the connector and take it apart if it consists of several parts.▶ Clean the inside and outside of the connector with a brush under flowing tap

water until the parts are visually clean.

Automated preparation (thermodesinfection)

▶ Wash the disassembled parts in the thermodesinfector, such as a Miele G 7881,up to 95°C.

Manual preparation

▶ Place the disassembled parts in the bath according to the manufacturer's in‐structions (disinfectant solution).

▶ Dry the parts with an absorbent cloth.

Sterilisation

▶ Seal the parts in sterile goods packaging.▶ Sterilise with a triple prevacuum (B class steriliser); hold for 4 minutes; 138°C

(280 °F); overpressure: 2.13 bar (31 psi).

NoteSterilise the suction cannulas according to the manufacturer's instructions.

2.3.3 Sterilise the grey handle of the T table

The max. temperature resistance of the grey handle (Mat. no. 1.002.4489) and hol‐der pads is 138°C.KaVo recommends sterilisation in a steam steriliser (autoclave) according to EN13060/ISO 17665-1 such as- STERIclave B 2200/ 2200P by KaVo- Citomat/ K-series by Getinge

NoteSlight discolouration may occur during sterilisation.

▶ Sterilise the holder pad and the grey handle (Mat. no. 1.002.4489) of the T-table (see the symbol on the handle).Autoclave with a triple prevacuum for at least 4 minutes at 134℃ ±1Autoclave using the gravitation method for at least 10 minutes at 134℃ ±1Autoclave using the gravitation method for at least 90 minutes at 121℃ ±1Follow the manufacturer's instructions for use.

2.4 Intensive sterilisation (optional)

NoteIntensive sterilisation is required for initial startup or after periods of disuse (wee‐kends, holidays, vacation, etc.).

Automatic request for intensive sterilisation (the motor rotational direction LED fla‐shes every two seconds).

NoteThe intensive sterilisation can also be started without an automatic request by thedevice.

▶ Press the motor rotational direction button when the instruments are mounteduntil you hear a beep and the LED flashes.

▶ Place the sterilisation attachment on the porcelain bowl, or insert it in the glassbowl (depending on the design).

▶ Insert the three-function or multifunctional handpiece without the cannula intothe clamping device of the holder. Make sure that the "W" button (water) on thethree-function or multifunctional handpiece is pressed, and that no air is exiting.

▶ Remove the turbine and attachments.▶ Place the turbine coupling, motor, water-supplied handpieces and COMFORT‐

base in the provided places in the holder. Place the COMFORTbase in theadapter for the COMFORTdrive sterilisation attachment ①.

NoteThere is a seat adapter (Mat. no. 1.005.6892) for the sterilisation attachment forthe COMFORTbase 405L.

Intensive sterilisation runs in 8 steps:

After intensive sterilisation is over, the Device ON LED and the service LED flash.The device is ready to use after putting back the instruments and removing theholder.

2.4.1 Interrupting intensive sterilisation

After the instruments are rinsed with a high concentration of Oxygenal, the start ofthe dwell time is indicated by a beep lasting four seconds. Intensive sterilisation canbe interrupted so that no one has to wait next to the device until intensive sterilisationis over.When the following display is shown and a beep sounds for four seconds, the dwelltime starts (step 4).Device on LED flashesMotor rotational direction LED flashesSpray LED permanently on

▶ Turn off the device when a tone sounds for 4 seconds.Intensive sterilisation is interrupted.

When the device is switched on after 30 minutes of dwell time, the remaining pro‐gramme steps run immediately. If the device is turned on before the the 30 minutesare over, the dwell times finishes first before the remaining steps of the intensivesterilisation programme run.

2.5 Amalgam removal

Either the Dürr or Metasys amalgam separator can be used.

The amalgam separator system is also automatically cleaned when the hydrocleanfunction is properly and regularly used.

2.6 Topping off Oxygenal 6

In KaVo water sterilisation systems, only Oxygenal 6 Mat. no. 0.489.3451 may beused.The amount of Oxygenal that is used depends on the water use when treating thepatient.When the Oxygenal container is empty, a signal sounds ever 10 seconds.

NoteOnly add Oxygenal when the signal sounds. The signal can be turned off: Holddown the start pedal, and move the backrest up and down. The next time the treat‐ment unit is turned on, the signal sounds again.

▶ Remove the tumbler filler① and tumbler holder ②.

▶ Top off the Oxygenal 6 (max. 1 litre).

NoteDo not fill through the centre opening (tumbler drain).

The reservoir is full when a beep sounds 10 times at one second intervals. Imme‐diately stop filling.

2.6.1 Refill the Oxygenal when using the water bottle

NoteIn KaVo treatment units, only Oxygenal 6 (Mat. No. 0.489.3451) may be used. Theamount of Oxygenal that is used depends on the water used when treating patients.

CAUTION

Defective water bottleMalfunctions or failures from a leaky water bottle.▶ Do not wash the water bottle in a dish washer, and do not rinse it with water

hotter than 50℃. Do not use the water bottle when it is scratched, deformed ordiscoloured. Note the maximum useful life of the water bottle on the label.

Filling the water bottle

▶ Remove water bottle by slowly rotating to the left.

NoteThe excess pressure in the water bottle can slowly dissipate now.

CAUTION

Incorrect cleaning of the water bottle.The material of the water bottle is destroyed.▶ Do not rinse the water bottle with water hotter than 50°C!▶ Do not clean the water bottle in the dish washer.

▶ Remove protective hose from the tube of the Oxygenal doser.▶ Pass tube through coarse filter opening on the Oxygenal bottle.▶ Firmly twist the Oxygenal doser on the Oxygenal bottle.

▶ Rotate opening in lid to the 1.5 litre fill levelThe lid locks into the fill position.

▶ Place Oxygenal bottle on a flat surface.▶ Push the lid down until the dosage quantity exceeds the fill level.

The fluid exceeds the fill level; the excess is sucked back out to ensure an exactdosage.

▶ Hold Oxygenal bottle in an almost vertical position and fill the water bottle.

NoteIf sediment can be seen in the dosing cap, this is not contamination - it is an in‐gredient that forms deposits following water condensation if left for a long time.These deposits dissolve again after several dosage procedures.

2.7 Rinsing programme

NoteIn the sterilisation attachment, the COMFORTbase may only be plugged into theadapter for the COMFORTdrive sterilisation attachment (Mat. no. 1.005.6892)!

▶ Press the LP/AP button (AP-LEDs flash for 4 seconds). While they are flashing,press the Spray button.

▶ Place the sterilisation attachment on the ceramic bowl or insert it in the glassbowl.

▶ Place the motor and water-supplied handpieces of the dentist and assistant ele‐ments in the provided places of the holder. Place the COMFORTbase in theadapter for the COMFORTdrive sterilisation attachment ①.

Adjust the time with the "Chair up" and "Chair down" keys from 0:00 to 8:30 minutes.

NoteThe rinsing program can be started immediately or the next morning.

▶ Press the "Spray" key to immediately start to process.

or▶ Turn off the device and restart it the next morning. The cycle is automatically

started.

NoteIf the device is not used the entire day (i.e., the instruments are not mounted), therinsing program automatically starts the next morning when the device is turnedon.

Press the "Spray" key to stop the rinsing procedure at any time.If the device is turned off and then on, the rinsing program also stops.

The rinse program has four steps.
