In the past I have contributed to various media websites, including Poynter and PBS Mediashift. Social Media Analyst | Al Jazeera International Washington, D.C. / Doha, Qatar | February 2011 to October 2011 From February to April we created and implementing best practices (technical, creative) for social media live television; I went to Doha to implement those same strategies live on air, as well as write institutional best practices; develop a verification system for crowdsourced YouTube videos and train various staff in the practical use of social media in their beats, specifically as related to the then-ongoing Arab Spring; during the wars, traffic increased exponentially, as did the size of the Facebook and Twitter audience. We also orchestrated a variety of paid social media campaigns targeting specific audience demographics. Associate Producer - Social Media | PBS NewsHour with Jim Lehrer  Washington, D.C. | 2010 Social media and strategic partnerships as the first social media producer for the PBS NewsHour. Among our accomplishments was breaking all existing traffic records, month over month, during the BP Oil Crisis; that online coverage was nominated for an Emmy. In addition, our livestream of the crisis was embedded across more than 6000 websites, occasionally exceeding concurrent views in excess of 10,000. I aided in the negotiation and technical implementation of NewsHour’s original distribution deals with Ustream and Hulu.
