KASPERSKY TABLET SECURITY

Kaspersky Tablet Security protects your data from viruses and other malware, and also prevents theft (phishing) of your personal data while you use the Internet. Should your device be lost or stolen, Kaspersky Tablet Security allows you to find the device and protect your information, by using the https://anti-theft.kaspersky.com web portal.

Kaspersky Tablet Security includes the following components:

Anti-Virus.

Anti-Virus continually protects your device from viruses and other malware. It allows you to scan newly installed applications before their initial launch, by using anti-virus databases and the Kaspersky Security Network online cloud service. It also allows you to scan the whole device and update the anti-virus databases, ensuring up-to-date protection of your data.

Anti-Theft and the https://anti-theft.kaspersky.com web portal.

Anti-Theft protects information on the device from falling into the wrong hands if the device is lost or stolen, and also helps you to find it. Anti-Theft allows you to use the https://anti-theft.kaspersky.com web portal to remotely lock your device, obtain its GPS coordinates, delete information stored on it, and obtain a photograph of the person who is currently using your device.

Web Protection.

Web Protection blocks malicious websites, which aim to distribute malicious code, and fake (phishing) websites, which aim to steal your confidential data, such as passwords for online banks, online auctions and payment systems, and gain access to your financial accounts.

Kaspersky Tablet Security displays pop-up notifications in the status bar to inform you about events that do not require you to select an action (see fig. below). You can view the notifications later in your device's notification bar.

Figure 5. Pop-up notification

Depending on the level of importance of an event, from the perspective of the device's security, notifications are divided into three types:

Critical notifications inform you about events of primary importance to the device's security (for example, the detection of a malicious object or dangerous activity in the system).

Important notifications inform you about events of potential importance to the device's security (for example, the launch of a scan or update).

Informative notifications inform you about events not of primary importance to the device's security.

APPLICATION LICENSING

This section provides information about general terms related to the application activation. Read this section to learn more about the purpose of the License Agreement, license types, ways of activating the application, and license renewal.

IN THIS SECTION

About the End User License Agreement ......................................................................................................................... 17

About the License ........................................................................................................................................................... 17

About the activation code ................................................................................................................................................ 18

ABOUT THE END USER LICENSE AGREEMENT

The End User License Agreement is a binding agreement between you and Kaspersky Lab ZAO, stipulating the terms on which you may use the application.

Read through the terms of the License Agreement carefully before you start using the application.

It is deemed that you accept the terms of the License Agreement by confirming that you agree with the License Agreement when installing the application. If you do not accept the terms of the End User License Agreement, you have to abort the installation of the application and refrain from using it.

ABOUT THE LICENSE

License is a time-limited right to use the application provided to you in accordance with the License Agreement. The license is associated with a unique code for the activation of your copy of Kaspersky Tablet Security.

The license includes the right to benefit from the following services:

Using the application on one or several devices.

The number of devices on which you can use the application is specified in the terms of the License Agreement.

Contacting Kaspersky Lab Technical Support for assistance.

The benefits of other services that Kaspersky Lab or its partners provide during the license validity term (see section "Service for registered users" on page 11).

The scope of services provided and the application's validity period depend on the type of license with which the application was activated.

The following license types are available:

Trial: free license intended for familiarizing yourself with the application.

Trial licenses usually have a short validity period. As soon as the trial license expires, all Kaspersky Tablet Security features are disabled. To continue using the application, you should purchase the commercial license.

Commercial: paid license provided when purchasing the application.

U S E R G U I D E

18

When the commercial license expires, the application keeps running but with limited functionality. You can still scan the device for viruses and other threats, but only using the databases installed before the license expiration date. To continue using Kaspersky Tablet Security in fully functional mode, you must renew your commercial license.

We recommend renewing the license before its expiration to ensure maximum protection of your computer against all security threats.

ABOUT THE ACTIVATION CODE

Activation code is a code that you receive on purchasing a commercial license to use Kaspersky Tablet Security. This code is required for activation of the application.

The activation code is a unique sequence of 20 Latin characters and numbers in the format xxxxx-xxxxx-xxxxx-xxxxx.

Depending on the way of purchasing the application, the following options are available for receiving an activation code:

If you purchased the boxed version of Kaspersky Tablet Security, the activation code is specified in the documentation or on the box containing the installation CD.

If you purchased Kaspersky Tablet Security at an online store, the activation code is sent to the email address that you specified when ordering the product.

The license validity period is calculated from the date on which the application is activated. If you purchased a license allowing you to use Kaspersky Tablet Security on several devices, the license validity period is calculated from the date on which the activation code is first used.

If you lose or accidentally delete the activation code after activation, send a request to Kaspersky Lab Technical Support from My Kaspersky Account to restore the code (see section "Obtaining technical support via My Kaspersky Account" on page 29).

19

STARTING AND STOPPING THE

APPLICATION

Kaspersky Tablet Security launches when the operating system starts up and protects your device during the whole session. By default, all the application's components run.

You can stop using the application by deleting Kaspersky Tablet Security or by disabling all the application's components.

Kaspersky Lab does not recommend disabling all the components of Kaspersky Tablet Security, as in this case the security of your device and personal data will be threatened.

D E A L I N G W I T H S T A N D A R D T A S K S

21

If, on the first launch of the application, you activated a trial version and then decided to continue using Kaspersky Tablet Security, you can activate a commercial version of the application.

To activate the commercial version, you have to enter the activation code (see section "About the activation code" on page 18) that you received when buying the application.

You will need an Internet connection to activate the application.

To activate the commercial version of the application:

1. In the main window of Kaspersky Tablet Security, press > License renewal > Activate commercial version.

2. Enter the activation code (see section "About the activation code" on page 18) in the window that has opened and press Activate.

The application sends an activation request to the Kaspersky Lab activation server. On receiving successful confirmation of the request, the application will notify you and display the license information.

PURCHASING A LICENSE OR EXTENDING ITS VALIDITY

PERIOD

If you have installed Kaspersky Tablet Security, activated the trial version and decided that you want to continue using the application, you can purchase a license at the online store. On purchasing a license, you will receive an activation code that you need to activate the commercial version (see section "Activating the commercial version of the application" on page 20).

When the license is due to expire, you can renew it. To do this, you can enter the activation code that you received when purchasing the license, or obtain a new license online.

To extend the license validity period:

1. In the main window of Kaspersky Tablet Security, press > License renewal.

2. Choose one of the methods to extend the license:

SCANNING THE ENTIRE FILE SYSTEM OF THE DEVICE FOR

VIRUSES

A full scan of the entire device for viruses and other malware helps to protect your personal data and money, as well as detect and eliminate threats on your device (both installed and uninstalled).

Most malware targets personal user data stored on the device: it collects personal data of the device owner and all available device information (such as GPS coordinates and mail) and relays them to criminals.

It is recommended to scan the device entire file system for viruses at least once after installing the application, to ensure that personal data is protected.

To scan the device entire file system for viruses and malware:

In the main window of Kaspersky Tablet Security, press Anti-Virus > Scan > Full scan.

SCANNING THE DEVICE OPERATIONAL MEMORY, A

FOLDER OR A FILE FOR VIRUSES

You can scan the device operational memory, a folder or a file for viruses.

Scanning the operational memory, for example, allows it to be protected from viruses or malware, which may constantly be running in the background.

Scanning a file lets you verify its safety, for example if the file has been downloaded from the Internet.

To scan the device operating memory:

In the main window of Kaspersky Tablet Security, press Anti-Virus > Scan > Memory scan.

To scan a folder or file:

1. In the main window of Kaspersky Tablet Security, press Anti-Virus > Scan > Folder scan.

2. In the window that opens, choose the folder or file that you would like to scan.

CONFIGURING AN AUTOMATIC LAUNCH TO SCAN THE

ENTIRE DEVICE FOR VIRUSES

You can configure the automatic launch of the full scan of the device and create a scan schedule, specifying the launch frequency, day, and time, if necessary. The application will automatically scan the device's entire file system according to the schedule.

For a full scan to launch automatically, the device needs to be switched on.

To configure automatic launching of a scheduled scan:

1. In the main window of Kaspersky Tablet Security, press Anti-Virus > Settings > Scan > Schedule.

2. Choose the frequency of the automatic launch of the full scan of the device. To do so, select a value for the Schedule setting.

D E A L I N G W I T H S T A N D A R D T A S K S

23

3. It is necessary to choose the day and time at which the scan will be launched.

UPDATING THE APPLICATION ANTI-VIRUS DATABASES

AND VERSION

Kaspersky Tablet Security uses anti-virus databases when searching for malware. The application's anti-virus databases contain descriptions of all currently known malware and methods for their treatment, as well as descriptions of other undesirable malicious objects. For this reason, it is strongly recommended to update the anti-virus databases regularly. If more than 15 days have passed since the last update, the databases are regarded as out of date. Protection will then be less reliable.

As well as the anti-virus databases, Kaspersky Tablet Security allows you to update the application version. Application version updates remove vulnerabilities from Kaspersky Tablet Security, add new functions, or improve existing functions.

An Internet connection is required to update the application's anti-virus databases and version.

To update the application anti-virus databases and version:

In the main window of Kaspersky Tablet Security, press Anti-Virus > Update.

CONFIGURING SCHEDULED AUTOMATIC UPDATES OF THE

APPLICATION ANTI-VIRUS DATABASES AND VERSION

You can configure the automatic updates of the application version and Anti-Virus databases (hereafter "update"). You can do so by creating an update schedule, specifying the update frequency, day, and time, if necessary. The application will automatically update its anti-virus databases and version according to the schedule.

An Internet connection is required for updates.

To automatically update at the chosen time, the device needs to be switched on at that time.

To configure a scheduled automatic update:

1. In the main window of Kaspersky Tablet Security, press Anti-Virus > Settings > Update > Schedule.

2. Choose the frequency of the automatic update. To do so, select a value for the Schedule setting.

3. It is necessary to choose the day and time at which the update will be launched.

PROTECTING PESONAL DATA FROM PHISHING

To protect your personal data from theft on the Internet, you can use Web Protection, which is part of Kaspersky Tablet Security.

Web Protection blocks malicious websites, which aim to distribute malicious code, and fake (phishing) websites, which aim to steal your confidential data, such as passwords for online banks, online auctions and payment systems, and gain access to your financial accounts.

Web Protection only checks websites in the standard Android browser and does not check them in other browsers.

2. Flip the Enable Web Protection switch to enabled.

When it is enabled, Web Protection automatically checks which is the default browser. If Web Protection does not support the current default browser, Web Protection prompts you to change it to the standard Android browser.

To ensure websites are continuously checked, it is recommended to set the standard Android browser as the default browser.

If you do not want to change the current default browser, in order to use personal data on the network safely, launch the standard Android browser.

To use personal data on the Internet safely:

In the main window of Kaspersky Tablet Security, press Web Protection > Browser.
