Martin, have taken charge of St. Aloysius’ parish in the Diocese of Hamilton, Ontario
on 27th June, 2012. A month later, on 1st August Frs. Gabriel (Superior) and Mario
moved to the Diocese of St. Catherines, Ontario and have been entrusted the parishes
of St. Elizabeth and St. Michael respectively. We wish these friars God’s abundant
12
blessings as they begin a Carmelite presence in these new territories. The province
wishes to place on record the services of Fr. Ranjan D’Sa, the pioneer of our
expansion in Eastern Canada. His good rapport and frequent communication with the
Bishops prepared the ground work for sending our friars and establishing our
community very smoothly. Thanks a lot for your excellent work in Canada!
Reporting from St. Mary’s Church, Hegdenagar, Bangalore
1. The 1st of July, 2012 will go down memory lane in the history of St. Mary’s Church
as the dream and aspiration of people to have Mass in English was finally fulfilled.
Rev. Fr. William Miranda, Provincial Councillor offered the English Mass and there
were more than four hundred faithful who participated in the Eucharistic celebration.
The liturgy and choir were nicely organized. Well done Fr. Jacob!
2. On 5th of August, 2012 the Akhila Karnataka Catholica Kristhara Kannada Sangha
held a protest rally within the church of St. Mary’s Church. This group brought some
people from outside and stopped the celebration of English, as well as Kannada Mass.
They demanded that all liturgical services should be held in Kannada. However, Fr.
Jacob. C, Parish Priest of Hegdenagar did not give heed to their demand. The media
stated wrongly that the Parish Priest had stopped Kannada Mass and in its place had
started Tamil Mass. However, on 12th August, 2012 that is Sunday, with police
protection he celebrated both English and Kannada Masses without any disruption.
We assure Fr. Jacob the support of our prayers.

A Memorable evening with Prince Jacob: “Amchea Gharant Tiatr” a Konkani
drama by Prince Jacob was staged at Mira Road, St. Joseph’s Church for the first time
in the Community hall on 14th
July. The hall was fully packed and the drama
conveyed a beautiful message stating how there are fights and quarrels in the family
between daughter-in-law and mother-in-law, how orphan girls are treated in the
family once they are given in marriage and finally how our families become a ‘tiatr’
or stage for our neighbours. Prince Jacob thanked the Parish Priest Rev. Fr. Dominic
Vas for the support he gave in staging the programme and also for promoting the
Konkani language.

13
Daddies and Mummies to our senior citizens, all dazzled the stage with mind blowing
performances that kept the 950-1000 odd people glued to their seats for a whole 2
hours programme. It opened with the Mission and Vision statement, not to forget the
visuals on the facts and myths of Child Abuse which was very informative for all
parents. On the whole it was a very entertaining evening for all. Congrats to the
Sunday school Para liturgy team for their tremendous team work.
Newly designed Adoration Chapel: The Adoration Chapel below the Infant Jesus

Mira Road in the community hall on August 5, 2012. More than 150 participants
attended the course and benefited from it. Fr. Britto shared his experience and ideas
on natural medication by which one can enjoy good and better health. Fr. Dominic
Vas, the Parish Priest thanked him for coming and sharing his valuable experience
and making people aware of naturopathy.
