OR1: Definition
Operating
Room
1Stands for the
ONE location
used to control
all the OR
equipment
To get a better perception of the need of the OR1 system, lets get started with a look at a conventional operating theatre
Conventional OR
Conventional OR
Cables all over the room
Multiple locations to control equipment (lights, Operating table, medical units etc)
Trolley (with monitor on top) are next to the table Limited viewing angle
Conventional OR
Long preparation time
Decreases the efficiency in the OR workflow
Conventional OR
A/V communication inside/outside the theatre requires a very long set up time
Conventional OR
The surgeon is always inside the sterile area and detached from the surrounding areas
OR1 New Challenges
Increasing number of Minimally Invasive Surgeries (MIS) done
Increasing requirements towards staff and equipment
New technologies are now being used in the theatres requiring a lot of training time for the staff
Need for documentation
OR is isolated Need for communications with the external environment
Full responsibility for the patient
Need for Integration & Smart Technologies
Why OR1?
Conventional OR
Cables all over the room
Multiple locations to control equipment (lights, Operating table,
medical units etc)
OR1 Equipped Room
Pendant based towers No apparent cables (All
cables passing in boom arms)
Centralized control of all OR equipment
Why OR1?
Conventional OR
Trolleys with Monitors on Top Limited Viewing Angle
OR1 Equipped Room
Multiple monitors conveniently located on arms providing
better viewing for the surgeon /
assistant
Why OR1?
Conventional OR
Traditional Data Archiving
Patient file is kept in hard copies somewhere in the hospitals stock
OR1 Equipped Room
The AIDA system records and captures the procedure/patient information
Data is stored digitally on a server inside the hospital
Why OR1?
Conventional OR
Teaching inside the OR
Students are around the Operating Table to observe and
get the necessary information
OR1 Equipped Room
The OR1 AV system allows for the bidirectional communication
between the OR and the outside
environment
Only the surgeon (and Assistants) is in OR

AIDA Advanced Reporter (AAR)
Demands on documentation of surgical procedures have significantly increased
Generating, archiving and locating data represent three essential areas where clinical personnel need an intuitive and intelligent system
KARL STORZ developed the AIDA Advanced Reporter (AAR)
AIDA Advanced Reporter (AAR)
AIDA Advanced Reporter
Software installed on Workstations in Doctors offices, nurse offices etc.
Communicates with Multiple AIDA Compact NEO systems in ORs
Communicates through DICOM/HL7 with PACS/HIS for patient data retrieval
Generates structured reports on the documented surgery
AIDA Advanced Reporter (AAR)
Patient Worklist can be entered at the beginning of the day or retrieved directly from the HIS
Worklist automatically transferred to AIDAs inside ORs
After the procedures are done, data is automatically transferred back to the AAR
Patient data can then be saved on PACS or any server
AIDA Advanced Reporter (AAR)
Report writing using standardized text with the configurable text modules
Pre-findings list also available for every patient More information on the examination is available
AIDA Advanced Reporter (AAR)
Examination data Input can be done in 6 different ways
Direct Text input
