Biopolymers: the Nova Institute may 2015

•  Fast growth of bio-based polymers:

•  Production capacity will triple from 5.1 million tonnes in 2013

to 17 million tonnes in 2020,

•  representing a 2% share of polymer production in 2013 and

4% in 2020

Framework for voluntary certification biobased polymers and chemicals

- catalogue with sustainability criteria - quality criteria for voluntary certification schemes - chain of custody schemes - framework tested in 4 pilot projects

International cooperation

- close cooperation with INRO Germany (INRO stopped) - joint presentation of INRO/Green Deal approach in Brussels

First products on the markets

- biobased olefins (Sabic)
