Chewing gum is commonly stuck underneath benches and tablesor to the surface of sidewalks, and is difficult to remove once dried.

Gum bonds strongly to asphalt and rubber shoe soles becausethey are all made from polymeric hydrocarbons. In 2000, a studyon Oxford Street, one of Londonsbusiest shopping streets, showedthat a quarter of a million blobs of chewing gum were stuck to its

    pavement

The process of water treatment involves various techniques andequipment, allowing the sewage water to sit for a longer time helpsthe solid waste to be deposited under the water bed

Once the solid waste is separated from the water, the water is thentaken for treatment and disbursed through the effluent system. The micro-organisms within the effluent water, breaks down hazardoussubstances and convert them into harmless gases.

When water is safely separated from the solid waste and treated topass friendly gases, chlorine is added to it for better purification. As aresult any residue or dangerous bacteria thriving inside the water iskilled or being neutralized. Few more chemicals are used to minimizethe bad effects of chlorine after the chlorine treatment.

Is important to understand that the production of certain types ofproducts such as chewing gum can contribute to the pollution ofthe environment by our bad habits, gum takes 5 years removedfrom the soil where we threw the gum, Confiteca has participated in

several programs to throw gum in special bins, cleaning the streetsof this product. Additionally it should be mentioned that if a childpicks up the street gum or put their fingers in their mouths can get apneumonia because of the amount of bacteria found in gum stuckon the streets or walls.

Confiteca havent a mitigation plans in order to avoid the

containing wastes that can contribute to disease to human being, istrue that they participates in certain social programs but they arentfully aware of the environmental impact of its products that areespecially aimed at children.
