Kara

about karaFrom the first time that I met Kara I knew that she wanted to be a mother. It was also very apparent that she would excel in that role. Kara is an intelligent and caring person. She has a tremendous love of family and friends and treats everyone with respect and fairness. Kara is extremely creative and enjoys crafting and decorating when she isn’t hard at work at her career as a Human Resources professional. Whether she is volunteering at a pet shelter or picking out holiday gifts for her nieces and nephews, Kara’s generosity always shows. It’s easy to see why I fell in love with Kara nearly 8 years ago and I’m sure any child would feel the same.

BY PAUL, KARA’S PARTNER

About me Hello, my name is Kara. I am a kind, genuine, supportive, loving, and energetic person with an unwavering love of family, friends, life, adventure, and fun. I enjoy spending time with my loved ones and seeking out opportunities to challenge myself and try something new. I pride myself on being a good partner, a good sister and daughter, a trustworthy and reliable friend, and someday a great mom. Although I have no children of my own, I have nieces and nephews who I have loved and watched grow since the moment they were born. I have been there through it all, from changing their diapers, taking them to school, cheering them on in sports, lifting them up when they were down, and now to watching with tremendous pride as they become the amazing people they are today.

I enjoy the outdoors, movies, music, activities, games, and crafts. I am known for being organized, optimistic, charismatic, and always prepared. My friends call me a “fancy girl scout”, because I always have everything well planned and I try to anticipate the potential needs of others. Even if it is just a day trip to an event, I make sure we have water, snacks, first aid kit, sunscreen, wet wipes, extra socks, you name it. I make sure we are prepared for almost any scenario so everyone has an enjoyable and memorable experience.

I am a Human Resources Manager and have been working in this field a majority of my career. I am passionate about what I do, because I get to challenge myself, motivate change in the workplace, and provide support to people every day. It feels good to know that I have the opportunity each day to make a positive impact on someone’s life, no matter how small.

When I think of who I am, there are three things that stick out most to me. The first is I choose to be kind. I firmly believe everyone deserves to be treated with dignity and respect. The second is I remember to always love myself. I am proud of me and I know that my value is not defined by others. The last is I believe in myself. Whenever things get difficult, I remind myself, “you’ve got this”. These are some of the core values I hope to pass along as a parent.

I am choosing to adopt because I tried for many years to have a child of my own and was unsuccessful. I made the decision for myself not to undergo numerous medical procedures and put my body and emotions through the stress of trying to conceive. Adoption just felt right, like it was meant to be, so I knew this would be my path.

My family I have two sisters who each have three kids of their own (4 boys, 2 girls). I spent a lot of time with them while they were growing up, so we have a special connection. My family loves the holidays, especially Christmas. My mom is the unofficial queen of the holidays. It brings me such joy when we are all gathered around the table. When we get together, there is always tons of laughter, so much amazing food, and more love crammed in one room than most would think possible.

I also consider my close friends and my partner’s family as an extension of my own. I believe family is not defined by or limited to bloodline. It’s the people in your life who are there for you, and you for them, through the good times and bad. It is about unconditional love and support and lifting each other up.

My HomeI share the home with my partner, Paul, our dog, J.B., and our two cats, Tonks and Minerva (who were both named after Harry Potter characters). The house has 3 bedrooms, 2 ½ baths, living room, family room, finished basement, and large backyard. We live on a dead-end street in a quaint, friendly, and diverse neighborhood. There are lots of kids in the area, varying in age. We have an annual neighborhood picnic each year, which everyone really enjoys. My home is in a great school district, with access to local parks, shopping, recreation centers, and only 20-minutes from a thriving downtown with sports, entertainment, culture, and community events.

Fun facts One of my all-time favorite hobbies is doing arts and crafts. It’s fun for me to just create things. I also love the outdoors. Whether it is taking walks through a city I have never seen, taking a bike ride, hiking, swimming, or gardening, there is just something about fresh air and sunshine that I find invigorating. I also enjoy entertainment such as the Harry Potter series, Marvel Comic movies, and Star Wars. I like traveling and I always try to visit at least one museum or attraction while visiting a new place.

Thank you for taking the time to read about me and my family. I sincerely hope in learning my story you can envision the tremendous amount of love and support I look forward to giving a child. I know I won’t be perfect, but I can promise you I will pour every part of me in to being the best mom I can, and there will not be a day that passes in which the child is not surrounded by love. I am a kind, caring, genuine person with a great sense of humor and a passion for life. I have a big heart and a longing desire to be a mom. I will provide the child a life filled with love, adventure, joy, opportunities, acceptance, and support. I will be forever grateful for this blessing. I thank you again for your kind consideration and I look forward to meeting you soon.

Kara

Dear Birth Parent,

I know that I am meant to be a mom. I genuinely

believe this is my life’s purpose. I have always loved

children and the thought of being blessed enough to

be a mom brings me such joy. My ability and desire

to love is child is not bound by or defined by gender,

ethnicity, or race. Adoption has been the driving

force behind everything I have done to become the

best version of myself, so I am able to be the best

possible mom for my future family.

Why Adoption?
