Greetings to all!
I am so happy to be a part of such a warm, caring, fun-lovinggroup of ladies. Our December dinner and auction was not onlya tremendous success, but it was LOTS of fun. The bidding gotreally serious at times, and by the end of the evening, we madeenough to cover our scholarships! I would like to thank all ofyou who brought the delicious appetizers and a special thanks toSusan Lindsey for hosting the event in her lovely home.
One of the highlights of the December gathering wasinviting Nancy Shaheen’s mother, Betty Shaw, to be anhonorary member. She has opened her home to us for ourmeetings many times, and she has been supportive of ourorganization for years. We will formally initiate her inFebruary. It is very exciting to welcome her into our Kappa Phifamily.
Our work at Strickland continues to make a lot of teachers
happy. The volunteer box is usually full of requests for copies, laminating, and cutting. They know who we are and seem totrust us to do a good job. We are planning to put cookies in thelounge in January. Vicky suggested that instead of trying toremember to bring bags of cookies to the meeting, that we alldonate a dollar so that she can purchase a nice tray of cookiesfor January 13th. We will put a DKG display in the loungealong with the cookies.
Dorothy has sent some letters to prospective members andwe have some ladies who are interested in joining our group. Itisn’t too late to send a letter of invitation to join DKG. Theycan come to our January meeting/orientation and learn all aboutour organization. Let’s share the enthusiasm that we have withKappa Phi with other women educators.
In January, we will be honored with the presence of Michelle
Grandinetti – our Area 9 Coordinator.
I hope that the New Year brings joy and happiness to all!
See you soon!Debbie

NEWS from Celeste: Our Kappa Phi website has gone through some major updates, and it
has received certification from DKG International. To receive thiscertification, the website had to be formatted in a specific way, and it
had to have certain content and links. Because we have a certifiedwebsite, it can be accessed directly from the DKG Texas website and
the DKG International website. Be sure to check it out at
www.kappaphitexas.weebly.com.
You might be surprised at what you will find there!

Exciting News from the December 4th Auction
Eighteen members and six guests attended the Decembermeeting! I am thrilled to report that I have deposited $1171into our chapter’s account which is earmarked for our Grant-in-Aid fund. This will go a long way in making our Grant-in-Aid project successful. Pat yourselves on the back for doing a great job.
Special thanks to those of you who brought guests! It was awonderful turnout. Thanks, too, to those of you who “padded”
your donation. We should also give special recognition toCharlotte Davis for sending us those marvelous scrubbers shemade and sent for the auction. They went “like hotcakes” and
many of us will have cleaner abodes. Thanks for the honey, too.
We were grateful to Susan Lindsay for hosting in her lovelyhome. We all know that was a lot of effort on her part and itshowed.
I am hoping that those members who were not able to join
us will want to contribute to the cause. You can do that by
mailing a check to me:
