About the company

Quarrying, processing and installation of architectural and building stone

Kamen d.d. is a company from Croatia

engaged in quarrying, processing and

installation of architectural and building

stone. Established in 1954, the company

today has over 400 employees. It is an export

orientated company which has been

permanently present on the major world

markets since it was founded. The ISO

9001:2000 certificate is implemented based

on product quality, production process and

general system operation.

The Company has been quarrying limestone

from seven active quarries in Istria and

Dalmatia, some of which have been active for

more than 60 years. In Istria three quarries

producing Istrian yellow (Kanfanar) type

stone are located at Kanfanar, Selina and

Korenići, with further quarries Kirmenjak and

Valtura. The quarries Mironja and Plano are

located in the Dalmatian area. The annual

production reaches about 40,000 m3, most of

which comes from the Istrian yellow type

quarries.

Valtura

The quarry is located in the southwestern part of Istria and with annual production of over 25,000 m3 it is one of the largest quarries of this type in Europe.

Our newest quarry is located in central Dalmatia, near the city of Split. Stone from this quarry has a unique texture and charm that reminds us of ancient times.

The quarry is located in southern Dalmatia, near the famous city of Dubrovnik. Mironja provides high quality stone of outstanding texture and properties.

It is located in the south of the Istrian peninsula, 10 km northeast of Pula. Stone from Valtura is specific for its wonderful mottling calcified shells.

Stone from Kirmenjak was used in Roman times, and is incorporated in many buildings in Venice such as the Doge's Palace, Ponte di Rialto and Ponte dei Sospiri.
